The tea is poured and the croissants are baked. Colette is ready for tea, are you? She is my latest furniture makeover, but she wasn’t looking so bright and happy a few days ago.
Here is Colette before:
Colette Coffee Table (Before)
Brown and boring you might say. Definitely not ready for tea in the above photo. So I started first with my ASCP in Provence. Provence is a really, really beautiful blue. Almost like the Tiffany’s box. A rich, jewel color. If you follow me on facebook, you got this sneak peek:
Provence!
I decided to make the top quite rustic looking with lots of texture. I did this by stippling the brush and also brushing back while the paint was still drying.
Adding texture
Once the paint was dry I did two coats of clear wax and then added some tinted Olive wax (by mixing Olive paint and clear wax).
I liked the look but wanted to deepen the tone so I added some dark wax and wiped away the excess. Here’s a look at the top with texture and waxes:
Can you see the texture? I also love Colette’s brass feet.
You know how much I love my gilding wax, so I got it out and highlighted some details in gold. What girl doesn’t like bling?
Here are some more photos of the details:
And a side view:
What do you think of her? I’m donating Colette to The 2012 Scituate Food Pantry Benefit which is being held at the Maritime Center in Scituate on Saturday, May 19th. I encourage as many as possible to attend and would love you to bid on Colette, your support of the auction could help so many lives in our local community.
I’m so delighted for you to meet Hazel today: There’s something just so stunning and classic about black furniture, don’t you think? Hazel wasn’t black…
Very pretty table! I am forming a list of ASCP colors I want to purchase so I checking out everyones projects. Blue doesn’t fit my decor right now but it is so sweet. ~ ~Ahrisha~ ~
Beautiful makeover! The gold gilding wax is the icing on the cake! How wonderful that you’ve donated her for such a special cause! Thank you for visiting me today! I’ve pinned Collette to my ASCP inspiration board! Best Wishes and Blessings, Amanda

That’s a great coffee table transformation. I like the idea of changing the color. You really gave life to that old coffee table. I look forward to seeing more of your DIY projects.

I love the olive/wax mix! I have been wanting to do duck egg/wax. Friends say no! I am on the right track and I will tell them you said so 🙂
I think duck egg tinted wax would look lovely! x
Wow, gorgeous work, Danielle — I’m in awe. I’m making this table my inspiration for my first project. Thanks for detailing your paint & wax layers. 😉
