Word of the Year – 2013!
Happy New Year!!!!
Wow, have I missed chatting with you? We had a fabulous Christmas with the kids and my parents. We also had an amazing time up in North Conway celebrating New Year’s Eve with 16 friends. I’ll share some photos on Friday. It was nice to have a bit of time off, but now I’m so excited to get back to blogging and a bunch of painting & DIY projects.
I’m not one for making New Year’s Resolutions. I just don’t feel like a I can stick with limiting myself from something I enjoy. But I love words and I love the idea of making a word your goal.
Last year my word was Creativity. If you missed my post it is here.
The word Creativity really shaped my year, from starting my own Etsy shop in February to working on my own creations and then also getting the privilege to do many, many custom pieces for friends, family and clients. I have so enjoyed breathing new life into old pieces of furniture and redoing some rooms.
My word for 2013 is Dream.
The boys and I had a bit of a slumber party at my parents place just after Christmas. My parents live closer to the city and the planes fly over head on their final descent to Boston. The boys absolutely love it. They lay in the big bed cuddling each other watching these huge machines effortlessly sail across the night sky; much like dreams soaring through the dark.
As we get older it is so easy to lose sight of our dreams and this year I’m making this my word. It just kind of seems right.
I’d love for you to share your Word of the Year here in a comment or at my Word of the Year link party this Sunday, January 6th. All you have to do is simply link up your post or picture or leave a comment.
I would love to lift up all our hopes and dreams for 2013 together!

I think my word for this year is going to be “intention.” I want to live intentionally, create blog posts that have an intentional purpose instead of just doing something to fulfill a goal of so many posts per week/month, etc. and I want to spend time with my family and make that time purpose-filled.
I almost picked your word, too! Dreaming is so important!
Happy New Year!
Julie, Happy New Year! Intention is such a great word. To live an intention filled life is so hard sometimes, but so important. It is so easy to get caught up into having to post every day, but content is so much more important as is spending quality time with your family.
My word for the year is Inspiration and I’ll be joining your party on the 6th! Dream away!
Maureen, great word! Inspiration, that spark, is what causes all the magic to happen. Can’t wait to party with you on the 6th! x
hi danielle! happy new year! i have loved this idea for the past few years. this year, mine is ‘listen.’
i have a buffet i am dying to transform, but don’t know where to begin. i’d love some advice if you think you might have the time?

Hi Michelle! Happy New Year! Listen is a great one, too. So many times with think we’re listening to our kids, our husband, ourselves, but perhaps sometimes we’re not listening hard enough. I’d love to give you some advice on your buffet. Send me an email and I’ll come have a look and try to give you some ideas. Wishing you all the best in 2013!
Dream…I love it. I feel like my head is always in the clouds and I’m learning to be ok with that (more in a visionary way than a space cadet one lol). I blogged my word here http://wp.me/pSlxV-Oj
Cheers to 2013!
Valerie, I just went over to your page and love your word of the year. I hope you share it on Sunday! x
Danielle,
“Dream” is a wonderful word, and I have a few dreams of my own for this coming year. I don’t make resolutions any more either – I just try to be the best me. I didn’t know you had an etsy shop… I am off to check it out now.

I’m having such a hard time finding my word for this year! Last year I picked Believe and it had a lot of meaning for me. I’ve thought of a lot of possibilities so far, but nothing that really speaks to me so far. Hope to come up with one before the year is over LOL! Happy Dreaming! Hugs, Leena
