Irish Eyes Are Smiling
St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Scituate 2013 |
On St. Patrick’s Day everyone seems to be Irish, but in our town on the Irish Riviera, many families are of Irish descent. In fact, Scituate is the most Irish town in America!
The temperatures were considerably colder than last year with people in parkers and hats rather than t-shirts, but despite the frigid temperatures hundreds of people lined the parade route.
John & Grampy |
John cuddled with Grampy as we waited for the parade to arrive on Front Street. Nonni kept warm in her wool and green!
We enjoyed chili and hot dogs from Front Street Gourmet:
While Poppy (our brown eyed girl) got some corned beef:
She loved that! She also loved the crowds but was petrified of the drums when they came passed.
I ended up having to take care of our little Poppy girl but the rest of our family enjoyed this wonderful parade. There were fire engines:
Bagpipes:
Gorgeous clydesdales:
Marching militia:
Old fashioned cars:
Conor and John loved the aliens:
While I love the Lucky Finn Schooners’ truck!
We enjoyed a baked ham with the ploughman’s lunch I shared with you on Friday. It was such a fun day! We can’t wait to do it all over again next year, but I think Poppy will stay home.
Danielle,
What a fun parade!! I love all the green. My kids are part Irish on their father’s side, and I was married by a jolly Irish priest many years ago. They are such a wonderful bunch of people. Your son looks so sweet eating his hotdog, and especially with grandpa. What a special day this was for you.

What great fun!!! I would have a blast at an event like this one.
