George (Before & After)

Good morning!  Grab your cup of joe and have a seat!

I’m so excited to introduce you to George:

Drum Table (After)

He’s regal, he’s charming, he’s well-read…

…but he wasn’t when I first found him.

Drum Table (Before)

How could I resist those claw feet and that lion head pull?  Well it was love at first sight!  As you can see the table had been well-loved and the leather top needed some attention:

Drum Table (Before)

I knew George had to be Graphite.  Annie Sloan’s soft black would be perfect with some light distressing.

I love how rich George looks now with the warmth of the wood shining through.

Isn’t that lions head so strong and bold?  Check out his feet:

Oh, I almost forgot.  Inside the drawer is a happy pop of yellow (Annie Sloan Arles):

What do you think of George?  He’s looking quite dapper, huh?  He’s also looking for a new home so let me know if he’d be welcome in yours.

LOVE, love, love this! So modern and classic at the same time. I saw a table similar to this at a tag sale yesterday and I really should have gotten it.

I just wiped it down and painted right on top with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. You can use her paint on fabric, leather, metal etc. 🙂

I love that little pop of yellow inside! The distressing is perfect on this.

George looks so perfect in black. I’ve been hankering to paint something black for ages because it looks so great, and the pop of yellow is perfect !

This is my first visit and I’m eager to explore more after meeting George. I didn’t know you could paint on top of leather, Danielle. Beautiful!

Yes, you paint leather with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. It adheres well and it feels soft and buttery. I’m so happy with my first attempt at painting leather. I did three coats of wax on the top to seal and protect.

Looks great – I never think to paint inside the drawers, what a great idea to make it so bright! I have this very same table and you have given me an idea of how to update it when I get bored with it!!

So did you paint over the top of the leather? If so did you do anything to the leather b4 you painted it? I have a 1950 leather top drum table I’ve cut down to make into a coffee table and want to chalk paint it

I have one just like that one I got at an auction. I was wandering what to do to it. Love the blue on yours and the pop of yellow really finished it of. Great job.
