Yard Sale-ing Tips

Source
I love to sail around Scituate, but I really love to going yard sale-ing.  There is something about “the hunt”.  When I see the sign posted on a lamp post or tree, I just have to stop and look.
Just ask my hubby and the kids.  We often go to several in a weekend. Sometimes we don’t find anything but other times…
Well, other times we find a whole lot.  It is that excitement. That possibility.  The “What If”…

I’m talking about some yard sale-ing tips over at All Things Girl today.  Click here.

Here are some of my latest and greatest finds:

From yard sales –

Cut- glass shaker
I picked this up from my friend’s yard sale and it is perfect for cinnamon and sugar for toast.  You may remember I shared it when I talked about vintage finds for our kitchen.
I also found this fantastic brass mirror there!
It is going to look fantastic in our guest room once we paint that room!
Online yard sale sites, like “Scituate Yard Sale” or other town yard sale sites in your area are great too. The comfort of yard sale-ing from your own home.  Isn’t this dresser a beauty?!?
It needs to be redone, but I LOVE the shape and the brass on the mirror.
Finally, I love to scour consignment shops and barn sales.  I picked up these wonderful pieces over at one of my favorite places, Bent Nail Farm Antiques.  I got this great herb crate that I’m using for flowers:
Here are some wonderful antique fishing floats in an egg basket.  The yellow egg basket has found a home in the kids playroom (for toy storage) and the floats are in my grey hutch!
I hope you’ll pop on over to All Things Girl and share your comments.  Also, let people know if you have any other tips.  Oh, and if you’re planning on hosting your own yard sale I have a few ideas for you!

Danielle,
I love yard sales too. My sister first introduced me to them many years ago, and ever since then, I was hooked. The dresser is so gorgeous. I think it will look lovely in your home.

Love,

Amanda, Bent Nail Farm Antiques is great. It is run by Colin and Beverly McCauley. It is in Marshfield on Highland Road. They do several barn sales during the year and post a large sign on 3A.

What great finds, I especially like that dresser. I can’t wait to see what do with this project. We don’t have good yard sales where we live. It is all just junk. I am jealous of all of you that live in areas where you can find these kinds of treasures.
