Chalk Paint Eggs

Getting ready for guests this Easter or maybe you’re just starting to decorate for spring?!?  If so, then I think you’re gonna love these eggs Conor and I made the other day.

Kids love to be a part of whatever you’re doing.  When I told Conor we were going to make Chalk Paint® eggs for Easter he was so excited.

I know many people dye eggs, but with these eggs (paper mache) the coloring is quick and easy and the best part ready for spring next year!

Here’s what you need:

• Wax paper
• Paper Mache Eggs (got our’s from Michaels for $3.99)
• Chalk Paint® – I have lots (if you don’t you can use craft paint)
• Gilding Wax
• Clear Wax
• Paint Brushes

Process:

Spread out some wax paper for your work surface.

Mix up your colors.  For our eggs we did a custom color (mixing Provence and Pure White), Duck Egg Blue, Versailles and Conor insisted on a white egg.

Brush paint onto eggs and allow to dry.  You may have to do a second coat or touch up areas.

Once, dry use a small amount of brown paint, I used Coco, to created speckles and spots on the eggs.

Then I applied a coat of clear wax and added a bit of gilding wax in copper to create a spotted luminescence look.  I love how the copper picks up the light.

These eggs are so versatile!  They are fun on the table.

Luke thought we painted real  eggs and wanted to know if I blew them.  Um, no.  You guys all know I wouldn’t have the patience for that!

Our friends are coming from England for Easter and we’re so excited to have a full house this year with little ones and egg hunts and a delicious ham in our dining room.  You can bet that the eggs Conor and I painted will be part of our Easter tablescape.  So grateful for family, friends and special time together.
