Stripping Furniture – A Video
Happy Friday, everyone! You know, that little mermaid dresser I shared earlier this week? Well, I thought I’d give you a behind the scenes look at stripping that piece.
Here it is in progress on the deck:
With Chalk Paint® and milk paint (with bonding agent) you don’t have to strip furniture, but this piece had so many layers of paint, I wanted a clean slate. I had painted it for our guest room about 8 years ago with latex paint and it had previously painted surface then.
A while back, I shared a stripping furniture post when I was doing our dining room table.
But I’m very much a visual learner and learn by doing. I thought you guys might be the same. So made you a video! My first video ever! Hope it helps:
In case you missed her, this is how the little mermaid dresser came out:
This is great Danielle, thanks for doing a video! I am a visual person as well! Well done!

Great video, Danielle. I have stripped so many pieces over the years. The products today are so much better than we used to have. Great job, sweet girl- xo Diana
Great job on your first video, Danielle! I definitely am a visual learner as well and found this very informative! Too funny with John and the dog – very cute.
Hope your weekend is filled with fun. xo
Great video. Isn’t stripping stuff satisfying !
The video is really helpful and the dresser came out lovely! I’ve been reading your blog for tips and inspiration! I’ve been up cycling furniture for my daughters nursery. I like the french, distressed look. You have done some great work.
