Seaside Tinkered Treasures Book Party
When I think of summer. I think of magical, sun drenched days. I think of English gardens bursting with roses, foxgloves, sweet peas and lilies. Gardens that might also have the odd fairy living there. I think of warm sand and cool waves. I think of castles to be built and ice cream to be savored.
Saturday was one of those days. A magical, summer day filled with whimsy and yummy things for all the senses.
We all piled into Luke’s truck and headed to The Sea Rose Cottage in Bristol, RI. John and Conor were so very excited. See?!?
My friend, Nancy’s shop is such a great place. Filled, of course, with all the paints I love, but also has rugs, candles and one of a kind antiques. Saturday was a special day at the Sea Rose Cottage. A day to celebrate my friend Elyse’s book “Tinkered Treasures”. You may remember my post reviewing the book here.
Well, it was such a happy and warm day.
There was seaside food – cake pops (the boys loved these), mini lobster salad rolls, pink lemonade (which my boys also loved) and shrimp cocktail (my favorite). For those who love to create, there was a tinkering buffet filled with bits and bobs.
John and Conor got busy with shells, glue, popsicle sticks, sea glass and glitter.
Here are some of Elyse’s creations. How sweet is this house?
We’re going to try and make one this summer! I also love this idea:
You’d think it is shells but it is really pasta that has been painted.
My sweet little Sloop John B’s were in the goodie bags:
As you can imagine, I was in paradise there. It is so nice to be able to celebrate such a special day with friends and so nice my little guys could enjoy it too. I’m so proud of Elyse and all her accomplishments. Her blog and her books are so filled with inspiration!
John and Conor aren’t signed up for camp this summer. Instead it is Camp Driscoll this year – unscheduled days to explore the woods, the beach, Boston and to tinker outside on our deck. We’re planning on doing many, many of the projects in Elyse’s books.
If you’re interested in getting your own copy, you can order it here! I also recommend her first book – Tinkered Treasures!
OMG, I love the picture of the boys! They were so into Tinkering it was so sweet. Thank you for celebrating Elyse’s second book with us. It was so special to have you and Luke and family “in the house.” Camp Driscoll sounds like a wonderful place! Glad you will have some special time for the boys. Thanks so much for the Drift Wood Sail boats too, the perfect addition to our Seaside Party Swag Bags!
Oh Danielle, everything looks so lovely. The girls and I are totally going to make that little house. We wish we live close to the ocean. We would be on the beach everyday. We have a little pond near our house with a playground and a splash park. That is where we are going to be spending most of our summer. I will let you know when we are headed your way. How adorable are your boys!!!
oh, danielle! i am smiling from ear to ear at this beautiful post filled with wonderful descriptions and pretty images and eeeek! your adorable little guys!

I have never gone away from your blog posts being disappointed, always something special to see and hear about. I’ll have to visit your friends blog again. I would love to buy her book.I sure did think those were those little shells and was wondering if I had enough to make pen cup. I’ve used lots of my shells for art work for our new l/r. which I’m loving more every day I get up to it. Your friend looks like such a nice person as well as talented, how wonderful of you to go to R.I.to support her on… Read more »
