A Tour of the HGTV Dream Home with GMC
Happy Monday, my friends! Grab your coffee or your tea because today’s post is filled to the brim with gorgeous eye candy from the HGTV Dream Home in Martha’s Vineyard. I finally editing all the photos I took. On Friday, I shared a bit of a stroll around Edgartown, the beautiful town in Martha’s Vineyard, where the 2015 HGTV Dream Home is. If you missed it click here.
This home is truly a DREAM home. It is a coastal oasis and perfect one floor living with the style of an historic cape. When I posted photos on Instagram and Facebook, I kept getting asked if I won!!! Sadly, I was not the winner of the home, although I did enter a few times. Oh, okay, maybe more than a few. Ha! Ha! There were 94 million entries this year, a record breaking number! I was lucky enough to join my friends at HGTV and GMC for a tour with four other bloggers. Here we all are sitting in the living room (the couch is very comfortable by the way):
Pictured, Architect Patrick Ahern, Nicole Wakelin (GeekMom), Paige Lewin (Tess & Ted Interiors), Kelly Wysockirom (GMC), Chris Ayotte (GMC), Shannon Entin (TravelingMom.com)
Seated: Kim Carpenter (GMC), Liz Galvan (Liz Marie Blog) and Me
The architect told us a bit about the island and his ideas for the home before they let us loose on the house. We all took photos like crazy:
Let’s take a little stroll around the front before we walk inside.
Even in a sea mist this home is gorgeous. The flower boxes are lovely and I got so many ideas for my own for this summer.
This patio off the master bathroom is lovely and unexpected.
My favorite space in the home was the living area. The living room, dining room are open plan which opens onto the kitchen. It has a lovely spacious feeling with 23 foot ceilings and the most gorgeous beams.
The Living Area
A follower wanted to know more about these lovely beams. They are reclaimed barnwood from Spencer, MA. I love how the dormers were created to add natural light to this gorgeous white space.
I have been gushing about the gas fireplaces since arriving home and I’d love one similar for our living room.
The built ins were painted in a contrasting color and it allows for objects on display to really stand out.
The ship lights were reclaimed and these columns were built custom to hold the weight.
They sit on either side of the french doors to the back deck.
Love the hand painted beadboard and this lovely chair between two curtained windows.
This area is open plan into the dining room, here you can see the view from the dining banquet. You all know I love the ticking stripe!
Here you can see from the living room to the kitchen:
I love how open the two entertaining areas are but how the kitchen still had its own space.
The Kitchen
Stainless steel, subway tiles and white cabinets are timeless. I dream of a kitchen like this:
I mean look at the stove? I don’t think I’d be sad to cook a big meal in here!
There are two wings to the home off this central entertaining area. First let me take you down through the living area to the the kids area.
We pass by the laundry room. This is a lovely little space dedicated to laundry. I dream of a room like this. Our laundry is in our itty bitty bathroom with the corner sink and corner toilet.
At the end of this hallway is this charming space:
Kid’s Bedroom
I’m sure two little girls would love this room!
Kids Bathroom
I was in love with the kids bathroom. I love the mirror, the soft sea glass shade on the wall and the light fixtures.
Guest Bedroom
The guest bedroom is in the other part of this wing. I loved the blue.
Oh, and the oars. You all know how much I love decorating with oars.
Guest Bathroom
The guest bathroom was decorated in the same color scheme of blues and oranges.
I’m in love with this brass faucet.
The other wing is the master wing. You pass by this little table (just outside the kitchen) on the way there.
The Master Bathroom
I can just imagine soaking in this tub, can you? Ah, it would be so nice.
Love these mirrors.
The mirrors above the double vanity have an almost mercury glass effect. Very soft and romantic.
Dressing Room and Walk In Closet
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is an oasis of calm and serenity. Again, I was in love with this fireplace.
Beautiful, huh?
The only space left to show you is the back deck.
The Back Yard and Deck
Can you imagine having the best party after a day the beach out here?
The blankets looked so soft and cozy, perfect for a chilly night on the coast.
All the furniture was teak and I really wished it would all fit in my bag to bring home. No such luck!
Oh, I almost forgot to show you the outdoor shower. Another thing I’d love to have for our home:
Even the dog house was a mini dream home! Poppy would love a little house just like this!
Before we left the home, I just had to try out the Acadia.
I kind of have my heart set on this car as my next one. The winner of the dream home wins this car, the Acadia Denali. There are so many lovely features of this car, but as the kids grow up I would love an extra row of seats in the back as well as all the safety features. What do you think? Maybe in blue?
A HUGE thank you to GMC and HGTV for taking me on this adventure! Even though I’m not the winner it was a dream come true to visit the home and the island.
I thought you all might enjoy this video of the home and the island. I lived on the vineyard during the summer of my sophmore year in college so it was fun to return. I’ve also included a list of sources below.

Wow, Danielle! So New England. Love the colors and open, crisp décor. Such a lovely and inspiring post!
Wow, the house is gorgeous!! So jealous you got to tour! Love all the neutral colors, it seems so calming and the perfect place to relax!
I could use more light in my master bathroom and see they used lamps. I would not have thought of that. Were the cords hidden or just wrapped up tight? Not sure you even noticed. Great post such a beautiful home!
Ok, I’m ready to move in!!!! It’s just my style. Ha Ha. Everything about this home is just gorgeous. I’ve been to Martha’s Vineyards only once and loved it. Thanks for sharing.
Being on the Cape, I was so excited to hear that HGTV was doing their Dream House on the Vineyard since they usually have the homes open for tours to the public prior to awarding it to the winner. Was so disappointed that they chose not to this year! So thank you for the vicarious tour.
Looks like a great time Danielle! I bet the home was so beautiful in person! It looks amazing-thanks for sharing pictures with us!
