Let’s Step Outside
Let’s step outside, shall we?!? I feel like I’m always showing you inside but we’ve made some progress on the outside. I’m saying some as we’re not all the way finished, but I just can’t wait any longer to share a few images with you.
If you follow on Instagram then you probably already saw this one!
One of the first things we did when we moved in was paint the door and the shutters Buxton Blue. You can see that post here.
We’ve been very busy planting this spring. It is the first year we did mulch and we did organic, dark brown.
I’m loving the ferns in these antique urns. My mom gave me the urns earlier this year. She loved them since finding them 17 years ago.
So pretty and soft. So far I’ve found the Boston Ferns easy to care for.
You can see the new plants we added this year. We did a row of boxwood and a row of Delaware white azaleas.
We’re planning on digging this bed further along and mulching. Next year we’ll tackle the grass.
I still need to do the window boxes for summer. I just didn’t have the heart to rip out these pretty pansies yet. They just look so happy there.
See what I mean?
Along the side of the house are the beautiful hydrangeas. I love them each year because I pick them to be enjoyed inside our home. Click here for more on that.
Come through the moongate and I’ll show you a bit of our backyard (sadly our autumn clematis didn’t make it through the winter).
You remember our deck refresh click here.
Since these photos were taken, I planted out the sea grass and added some nasturtium to the deck along with more herbs.
We have quite a large side yard which the boys absolutely adore. Poppy hides in these trees but we’re hoping to have the invasive Norway Maples taken down, just keeping the Black Walnut.
The boys and Luke also love the hammock. Sometimes it is used more like a swing….
We’ve planted roses, sea grass and a bunch of other things in this bed this year. I know in a few years this area will be looking gorgeous.
I adore this area of wild flowers in our yard.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the outside. We really enjoy playing, relaxing and DIYing out here.
It is looking so good! You guys have done so much out there! It is such an idyliic east coast home and the hydrangeas 🙂 love! xo
I just love your home, Danielle – inside AND out!! So much charm, you’ve done a beautiful job! 🙂
So lovely! I love the front door color, your hydrangeas, and your porch! What a beautiful outdoor space! So inviting!
You have a great place!
I too, am baffled what to admire the most. 🙂
Gah! I’m dying with jealousy! 😉 seriously your home and all the pretty flowers and your deck… So so gorgeous–all of it!
Wow, gorgeous and got my attention immediately with the door and shutter color! My fave! Your planting are lovely. I will however warn you, that if you ever intend to plant a vegetable garden it will not grow in the vicinity of the black walnut tree which is toxic to the soil. My grandparents had a huge veggie and cutting garden, and over the years the tree got larger and so did the area of the garden that would not thrive. Luckily my father was a Master carpenter, so was able to harvest the trunk and have it planed into… Read more »
