Christmas in the Living Room
The Christmas tours continue this week! Last week, I took part in the Country Living Home Tour. Today I’m sharing more of our living room (as I said last week this is the room that sees the most family use). The dark paneling and woodwork make it oh, so cozy in the winter months.
Welcome to the
All Through the House Christmas Tour
This Christmas Blog Hop is hosted by
Town and Country Living and The Everyday Home.
We also have a special co-host…
Mr. Christmas Mouse
We are very excited to share all of the great blogs and beautiful
Christmas Rooms throughout this week, so please come back often
as each day will feature a different room.
Well, you know the rest of the story.
Welcome to our homes…
Each day you’ll get a glimpse of various rooms in bloggers’ homes. Yesterday was Porch and Foyers, Today is Living Rooms, Tomorrow is Kitchens, Thursdays is Dining Rooms and Friday is a mix of Bedrooms, Family Rooms, Offices and Sunrooms.
When I was little I have such fond memories Christmas. Did you all read Santa Mouse? It was a favorite and I still read it to my boys. We always leave a piece of cheese out for Santa Mouse. I have lovely memories of decorating the Christmas Tree. It was always a very big deal. We’d get the tree and then I’d wait and wait for my half sisters or aunt to arrive to come helps us decorate. I’d load it each year with pounds of tinsel. I always thought it looked so pretty but perhaps it looked gaudy. Nevertheless my parents let me decorate to my hearts content. I try to do the same with my boys.
Here you can see our Christmas tree from the stairs through our entryway. I keep it lit all day long. Ornaments on our tree are german glitter glass, vintage ornaments I LOVED when I was little and ones made by my two little boys.
Here you can see the Faux Galvanized Table I just shared yesterday, it really makes this room feel complete, but I guess you guys all know me so well. I might want to swap out chairs after the holidays. Not sure though.
We live by the coast so the ocean is always on our minds from vintage sailboat images to oyster shells collected from the beach.
The stockings are hung by the chimney with care:
Simple shells are also propped up on the garland on the mantel.
I made the sparkly anchors that are on our stockings and I’ll share the how to with you guys soon.
This part of the living room is more of a sitting room and I dream of having a roaring gas fire one day.
The other part of the living room is where we play games and lounge on the couch.
I always get cold so we have many fur throws.
The boys love playing chess. They are quite good at it and always beat me!
I kept the table top decor very simple. We often eat pizza in here with Christmas movies so things need to be cleared away. To create this center piece I used a wreath we had and put candles inside. Then I layered with oyster shells and added a few votive holders. The deer was a gift from my mom a few years back.
I hope you enjoyed a closer look of this room where we spend so much time!
I often get asked where things in our home are from. Some are antiques, some are handpainted by me and some are from shops we all love. For your convenience I’ve added a source list which has a few affiliate links, you can read my full disclosure policy here.
