What Roman Shades Should I Choose?
I partnered with Smith & Noble on this post. I’m really excited to be working with them on updating two rooms in my home.
Changes and inspiration around the house continue and today I NEED your help on deciding on some roman shades. I know you guys think my house always looks great and is perfect, BUT I just haven’t shown you everywhere. Ha! Ha! Like all houses there are bits that are broken and tired and need a little fix up now and again. Namely, in our bedroom and half bathroom.
We have gorgeous blinds in our living room which are by Smith & Noble. We’ve never had an issue with them and they add a richness to the room.
I’d like to do something a bit different in our bedroom and half bath. Both rooms have white trim and a coastal, relaxed feel to them. First let me show you the bathroom. Just so you know this is the world’s smallest bathroom. Originally, it was the pantry but has been turned into a half bathroom with laundry.
See? I told you it was tiny! It even has a corner sink and toilet. It also has a broken roman shade. This shade was quite thin and also had a cord and it was the cord that snapped. Smith & Noble offers cordless blinds which I like with kids. It is so much safer. I’m planning to go with a flat roman shade that fits inside the window.
The deck is right outside the window so the roman shade will be most of the way down. I was thinking it might be fun to go with pattern in here as I always go neutral. What I love about Smith & Noble is they sent me as many samples as I wanted for free. Seeing the fabric in your room is so helpful. I placed the swatches up to the window and also along the floor in here:
Swatches (clockwise starting at the top)
Beachcomber White, Sea Star in Sand, Tribal Chic Navy, Tahiti / Navy, Sea Star in Navy, Malibu Linen White
Which ones do you like? I’m really drawn to the sea star ones and the ikat.
What do you think?
The other room that needs some help and attention is our bedroom. We’ve lived with this room as is for nearly three years. I love the wall color and I’m not changing that, but adding new artwork gave me the desire to change things up in here.
The current blinds are white metal and I’ve never loved them.
Oh, yeah, and one is completely broken. It has been like that since before Christmas. Sigh.
What I really want for this room is natural woven roman shades and Smith & Noble has so many to chose from. Again, I plan on using cordless for safety.
I ordered some swatches. Some light and some dark and some with almost a driftwood finish.
(Swatches pictured – lower photos L-R)
Wendy Bellissimo Sutra/Grey, Tongli Mist, Anzi/Storm
Natural Sheer / Arcadia, Natural Sheer / Shangri-La, Belize/ Sunset
I love the lighter ones but they just feel too light in the room and I’d like something to pick up the color of our “reclaimed” wood headboard. I really like this one by Wendy Bellissimo. It is the Santa Barbara / Natural Gray:
Hmmm, so many to choose from. What do you think? I have them all spread out on my bed trying to decide!
I love the Sea Star in Sand for the bath. And I pick Belize/ Sunset for the bedroom. I like natural sunlight and this is a good mix of warmth from the wood tones without sacrificing sun light too much!
I also love the sea star! It picks up the beach-y feel. Have you thought about a top down shade since you look out to the deck?
I vote Sea Star Sand & Santa Barbara Natural Gray!
I love the Sea Star in Sand. It goes real well with your flooring. It adds the necessary privacy, but doesn’t make it dark in there. For your bedroom, I really like the Santa Barbara/Natural Gray. It would go really well with your headboard and give you some color that you say you’d like.
Definitely the Sea Star in Sand for the bathroom! I’m also leaning towards the Wendy Bellissimo Sutra/Grey for the bedroom.
