Brunch and Antiquing in Boston
Does anything go better with brunch than antiques?
Yesterday, Luke and I met up with my friend Amy and her husband Dave. You may already follow Amy’s blog – Maison Decor. Amy has amazing style, is a very talented designer and fantastic with paint. She shared so much with me in her Creativity Over Coffee interview, if you missed it click here.
Anyway, we thought it would be fun to catch up over brunch and do a little antiquing while we were at it. We met up at the Gaslight for a very French breakfast. It was so much fun. I had moules and frites and Luke had steak and eggs. The La Provence cocktail was lovely if you like gin and st. germain (which I do).

I really felt like I’d stepped off a Boston street and into a little Parisian restaurant. The place was full, waiters in all white and long white aprons dance around the brasserie carrying tray upon tray of French delicacies. I really wish I took a few more photos in here. They had gorgeous old subway tiles and beautiful old green street lights. A must visit if you’re in Boston.
Here’s a few photos from brunch:

With our bellies full, we walked over to SoWa Vintage Market since it is winter only the indoor market was open and it was fun to poke around.
Then it was off to Pioneer Goods! If you follow me on Instagram then you saw this photo yesterday:
Pioneer Goods, is owned by Amy’s son Justin Power, it has a really fabulous mix of new and vintage finds. Amy’s also having a bit of a pop up shop for Maison Decor so it was fun to see a mix of French and romantic as well as coastal and industrial. As you know, I kind of have a mix of both in our home.
The building itself is so cool on the outside. Shall we go inside though?
As you walk in you’re greeted by the Maison Decor pop up shop and it is so beautiful. Stunning.
I loved this gorgeous pig wallpaper:
Adorable, right?
I swooned over the brass and crystal. I really, really wish I had more room for these:
This oil painting was also gorgeous. I’m smitten too with the blue chippy dresser with original finish. The sun was so bright it was hard to capture just how gorgeous the dresser is, but I think you get the idea 😉
A heart for Valentines?
It was so nice to finally meet Justin in person. Amy always speaks so highly of him, I felt like I already knew him. Look how proud this mama is of her son:
The rest of Justin’s shop has this cool Americana, Ralph Lauren, summer cabin feel. Very much old school nostaligia. Lots of warm woods, brass, succulents.
Vintage blankets and quilts:
Many of the painted pieces are original finish. I love that authentic chippy where there are layers and layers of paint. It just really makes my heart happy. These chairs for instance:
Amy told me they were used in a commercial that was done right outside the store. How cool, right?
Here we are fooling around with our phones. Amy was trying to get a selfie and I kept closing my eyes:
IN LOVE with this cabinet. It has a gorgeous almost turquoise paint and I think was probably used for tools as there were divided drawers inside. Wouldn’t it be cool for a TV console?
Got a few of these for the boys’ room when we do it over. Excited to share more about my plans for their room very soon.
We had so much fun. Can’t wait to go back to Gaslight and to Pioneer Goods. If you stop in, tell Justin I sent you.
wow, his shop looks awesome!!! love the mix and vibe! and love your description!
What a nice wrap up of our Sunday in town! It was terrific seeing you and Luke again. Thanks for sharing Pioneer Goods Co on your blog Danielle!
Had to follow Pioneer Goods Co. on Instagram! Quite similar to the vibe of my boys’ bedroom. Big fan of chippy painted finishes, worn warm and weathered wood, metals, and deep rich tones. Looks like a fabulous shopping experience!
Pioneer Goods is one of my favorite shops! I can’t pass it up when I’m in the South End. You should check out Ramble Market in Waltham if you haven’t already been. They have a great IG account but the in-store experience is even better!
Love this blog post!…I definitely will check out Pioneer Goods (as I live in the greater Boston area and my son lives in the South End)…in the past, I have been to Amy’s shop (now closed) and have this shop on my bucket list…Love the Gaslight for dinner… want to go there for brunch!…thanks for including a story like this on your blog!
I grew up in Boston and go back fairly often, so I’ll have to stop by Pioneer Goods next time I’m there! I second Gaslight’s brunch – yum yum yum.
That looks like a fun day you had in Boston! I live in the Worcester area and also have a DIY blog. Have you ever visited the Mills at 58 Pulaski Street in Peabody, Ma? It is two huge warehouses filled with lots of antiques and cool vintage finds. Definitely worth a day trip 🙂
