HGTV Dream Home 2016 with GMC
I partnered with my friends at GMC on this post, it was so much fun to drive the brand NEW 2017 GMC Acadia to the HGTV Dream Home.
The life of a blogger can be strange and surreal. Many times I’m rushing to get the kids from school as I have paint splattered over my hands and I’m stripping a dresser in the basement. Last week was a little different, instead of DIY-ing I was here:
The HGTV Dream Home in Merritt Island Florida! Like many of you, I watched the program and ooooohed and ahhhhhed over the home. This is the 20th anniversary of the HGTV Dream Home and once again my family was keen to win. I entered many times. Ha! Ha!
Just look at that Florida sunshine and palm trees. A pretty sight for this New Englander! The thing I loved about the HGTV Dream Home this year was that it wasn’t a new build but it was restored. I loved watching the entire process and there is so much that interior designer, Brian Patrick Flynn, did to this home that I love!
You may remember that I went to the HGTV Dream Home in Martha’s Vineyard last year, click here. I also did the Hidden Treasure Adventure with GMC where we created a Habitat Home with finds on the World’s Longest Yard sale. Click here to read about our adventure. Both events were really amazing for me both personally and as a blogger. This was a HUGE reunion. GMC invited all of us who took part in the Hidden Treasure Adventure on this reunion. The reunion started at a hotel in Orlando and we had a delicious dinner and went on the Orlando Eye. The next day we drove the gorgeous brand NEW 2017 GMC Acadia Denalis to the Dream Home!
I drove with friends Liz, of Liz Marie Blog, Courtney, of French Country Cottage, and Chris from GMC.
You can see just how excited we were to try out these gorgeous cars! I really want an Acadia and was so excited to be the one to pull up to the Dream Home. I drove right to the door. The cars drive so nicely and have so many wonderful safety features like the rear park assist, new rear seat reminders and the side blind zone alert. I also love the additional back row of seating. The new 2017 model is 700 pounds lighter for more efficiency but has so much style and great for families. We all LOVED driving it.
Here you can see all of us bloggers (21 in all) about to enter the Merritt Island Dream Home:
I’m sure you’re as eager to see the HGTV Dream Home as we were! Let’s start.
This was my favorite room in the whole house – The living room:
That wall mural is so amazing and I love all the neutral decor where your eye can be drawn to the wall of windows and the beautiful water views.
I loved the little details in this room too. The nailhead trim on the couch:
The gorgeous side by side coffee tables:
The living room is open plan into the kitchen:
I’m usually a white cabinet girl but loved these darker cabinets with the light floor. I also loved the pendant lights in this room.
It was hard to get shots without people in them, there were so many walking around the home: videoing, taking photos and talking. Here you can see the designer, Brian Patrick Flynn, chatting to all of us about his design plan.
Also open into this room was the dining room:
I love this modern artwork:
The TV Room off the living area has some brighter, more Florida inspired colors.
Down the hall was my favorite bedroom. I love all the blues and whites (as you guys can imagine):
I love the mix of textures and patterns and new and old.
In LOVE with this mirror:
Also, this swing. What a fun idea!
Off this room was a bathroom with this cool string art:
Upstairs was the master bedroom done in bright turquoise:
This seating area was in the bedroom.
This gorgeous balcony overlooking the pool and the water was just off the master. Can you imagine reading a good book out here?
I took many pictures of the master bathroom:
Look at this chandelier and bathtub. Um, yes, I’ll take one of each.
There’s still more! I haven’t even shown you the back yard yet!
Gorgeous spots to relax and enjoy the day. Look at this beautiful teak furniture and pillows.
Even the dog house was cute.
In addition to the three bedroom, 5 bathroom home the lucky winner also gets a GMC Acadia, a pool, $250,000 in cash, a dock, and a brand new boat.
Ah, what a true dream home. Before, we left for the airport, we were treated to a lovely garden party lunch in the home’s backyard.
Everything was beautiful – the flowers, the food, the company and the weather….
Believe me when I tell you, it was hard to leave….
What did you think of the dream home? Did you enter to win?
A HUGE thank you to GMC for inviting me on such an amazing adventure. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Oh, what fun!!! Such a great trip and what a beautiful house!
The house is amazing! Thanks for giving us the inside peek. We got to drive GMC’s for the American Odyssey Relay last year. We all loved our sweet rides, especially all the tech outlets and onboard wifi!!
