Elegant Summer Mantel
I partnered with the The Home Depot on this post. The Home Depot provided me with product and compensation. The opinions I have shared about the products are my own.
It’s no secret that I hate the current look of our fireplace. I shared that with you guys a few months ago, click here to read about that.
For four years, I’ve contemplated what to do.
I’m still deciding on what to cover the floor tiles and brick with.
Since summer is upon us I’ve been playing with some lovely decor items from The Home Depot. I knew from working on my She Shed with them that they had lovely things but they have so much more now. EVERYTHING on my mantel is from The Home Depot.

Here’s a peek from our hallway:
Since the bottom part of the fireplace is the area I don’t love, I’ve used lovely decorative elements to bring your eye up:
I used pretty sea glass looking bottles, bottles with rattan and lovely candlesticks. The oversized starfish I already had and the books are vintage.
I really felt like the mantel needed something.
That something was pretty greenery and flowers.
I think the branches add some life.
A little whimsical touch of softness.
I’m not sure what they are but I think they’re crab apple blossoms.
Does anyone know?
Aren’t they pretty?
I’m loving the new mirror. The glass has a beveled edge and the frame is a warm weathered wood with taupe and white. It looks and feels very coastal. Perfect for our home!
The mirror is quite large, almost oversized above our mantel, but this allows for your eye to be drawn upward away from the parts of our fireplace that I don’t like.
The mirror also bounces light back into the room and makes the area feel so much bigger.
When decorating I’m always drawn to bottles. These soft white, aqua and blue bottles by Home Decorators Collection remind me of the sea glass we collect on the beach.
The colors are so dreamy. Can you see the soft misty quality on them. It almost looks like sea spray.
The sea is never far from thoughts or dreams, even when I’m sitting in the living room!
These colors are so restful and relaxing.
The woven rattan bottles add more texture.
Pretty as is but also pretty as vases, as I’ve used them here.
The set comes with four pretty bottles, each different. I think they look like something from Greece or Spain, that we may have picked up on our travels.
You can see the other two here:
I think these would also be gorgeous on a table filled with pretty summer flowers.
The candle holders also have a weathered, white washed feel.
I’m a big lover of candles. They look so pretty at night, flickering on the mantel.
Rounding out the look is this pretty faux olive topiary.
When we visited London in February I saw so many of these pretty plants. They were on front steps, on table tops and in rooms. I thought adding this pretty one would add some softness to this corner.
It’s so life-like! The great thing about faux is you don’t have to worry about it dying!
This room doesn’t get lots of sunlight so it’s a great option.
I’m really loving this new look in our living room! I hope this gave you some ideas to camouflage your ugly fireplace!
I’m loving this new look for summer!

If you would not have said it was faux one would never
Know.?
Looks so pretty, Danielle! I especially love the new mirror and the olive topiary. Looks like your mantle is all ready for summer 🙂
It’s gorgeous Danielle! I love all your details, those bottles add the perfect coastal flair! And I love the texture on the rattan ones as well!! And of course that gorgeous mirror! XO
It’s beautiful, Danielle. I had no idea Home Depot had wooden candle holders like that. I’ve been looking all over for some – now I know where I’m getting them! Thanks!
So pretty Danielle. I love seeing the new items at HomeDepot. They’re great!
I can see your problem with the fireplace. Leave the wood, put painted antique tin tiles over the red brick. I have a large fireplace that does is just decor. I’ve painted mine black with antique tiles. It could be stunning .
