So, I’m embracing this season I’m in and giving myself permission to go slower. This is our last Christmas with John before he leaves for college so I want this year to be very special. Simple Centerpiece
Simple white tapers from Ikea paired with fresh greenery, starfish, and glittery baubles makes for a very festive and affordable centerpiece that’s ready in minutes.
DIY White Christmas Wall Hanging
Simply print this free printable and create the wall hanging. I have this printable available in a dark background and a light background. The light is pictured here.
Low Garland
I love making our staircase festive but sometimes the garland can just get in the way, right? Why not celebrate a low garland.
Dried Orange Slices and DIY Ornaments
Sometimes the simplest things are the prettiest. We love making dried orange slices and creating pretty ornaments out of them.
They look like stained glass when the light shines through them.
Dried Florals for a Light Coastal Flair
I’m a big fan of greenery but sometimes something lighter is called for. Why not mix in some dried florals for the holidays as I did in our sunroom. Baby’s breath, dried pampas grasses all give a wonderful and light texture.
Clip On Candles
I love the retro look these candles give to a tree and most are battery operated. I found mine at a small boutique on Cape Cod, but these are very similar.
Here’s a look at more of the tree:
Create a Hot Chocolate Bar
It gets cold here in New England. We’re hoping for plenty of snow for sledding and maybe we’ll try to learn how to ski again. In any event, hot chocolate is always a good idea and even more fun when you have a hot chocolate bar.
Just Add White Fairy Lights
When in doubt add white lights! I love white lights especially when we have snow on our bushes and window boxes. It just looks so magical.
Navy and White
Is there any better color combination than blue and white? This faux fur blanket is such a luscious color. One can’t help but want to be cozy right here.
Blue Christmas Tree
Speaking of blue, one year we went for a blue Christmas with these ornaments that reminded me of the ocean.
Classic Christmas Tablescape
We loved making these gingerbread house cakes and they look so festive against a white tablecloth I found at Target.
Add Some Starfish
One year I decided our wreath and other outdoor greenery needed starfish so I simply hot glued some on. The starfish were from Amazon. I’m happy to report they’re still firmly secured to our greenery and wreath despite being out in the elements.
Modern Coastal Lodge Looks
I really wanted to try out something more minimalist with a naked tree and faux fur throws in the pool house / she shed last year. It was fun to try this look out here.
Here’s another angle:
Orange Slice Garland
I love using this in our little kitchen. They’re fun to make and looks great in a small space.
A Mandarin and Pinecone Tablescape
I love how giant pinecones look especially paired with greenery and mandarins. It looks so rich and isn’t an expensive way of decorating.
Red Accents
I love using red berries and accents in holiday decor. You can see out by the pool house window boxes how pretty it looks mixed in.
You’ve seen Max so Poppy needs to make an appearance too!
Light and Airy Coastal Mantel
Things are lighter by the coast. I created this mantel with that in mind, an airy garland and pretty blue ornaments give a light coastal touch.
French Country Ornaments
One of my favorite things to do is take these beautiful ornaments and place them in a big ironstone bowl or on shelves. An easy idea that adds so much timeless, Christmas charm.
Hand Poured Candles
These are so fun and make great gifts too. We used glass yogurt pots to make them.
Giant Pinecones
I love the texture these give to any vignette. Instant Christmas!
Add a Branch
Go to your yard and clip some evergreen branches. Instant decor!
A Simple Eucalyptus Garland
This is pretty and so easy to create at home.
Mix in Driftwood
Foraged driftwood from the beach looks so pretty winter arrangements.
A look at our kitchen last year:
Rustic Gingerbread Table
I loved the look of the gingerbread cakes on the white cloth but this is also a fun more farmhouse look. I’d love to hear which you like better.
Here’s a look from another angle:
DIY Chippy Vintage Sled
Adding some chippy layers to a vintage sled and gives a cozy look for the holidays.
Cozy by the Fire
We love sipping tea and having minced pies by the fireplace. Is there anything better than simple comforts at Christmas?
Max loves to sit here.
Celebrating Fresh Greenery
We had a real tree last year and I thought it was just so beautiful so we only put some white lights on it.

Hi Elaine, Aw, you’re so kind! I hope that these ideas can provide some inspiration. Wishing you and your family a beautiful holiday! xx
Well I love all your ideas. Love the centerpiece and the little gingerbread houses. I like them done both ways but I think prefer the farmhouse look you did with the greenery, etc. I love using cut greenery. I often do my mantle with it. I might do some oranges now. My air fryer only has on drawer though so I hope it works. Not sure if it has a dehydrate option. Can you tell I hardly use it lol. Enjoy your decorating..
