A Thanksgiving Dessert

Duck Egg Blue Chair (After)

How was everyone’s Thanksgiving?  I ate far too much all weekend and had the most relaxing time with my family.  We shared stories, movies, long walks in the woods and finished up last night with some Christmas decorating.  Can’t wait to share it with you all soon!

Today, I want to share a little chair makeover.  I fell hard and fast for this lovely lady at Interior Consignments in North Scituate.

This how the chair looked when I saw her:

Chair (Before)

Oh, did you notice that fantastic oriental runner next to the chair?!?  Also, got that at Interior Consignments for my home.  The rug was $99 for a 14 ft runner.  It just needs a little repair.

My favorite part of the chair is the curved legs

(Before)

I also love the cane seat.  It was in perfect condition so I didn’t want to paint it.

I got my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint out in Duck Egg Blue (my favorite ASCP color) and watered it down.  Then I brushed it on and wiped away with Viva paper towels.  I like using Viva for this because they have no pattern on them.  This gives that nice washed effect.

I love how you can see the wood grain peeking through the paint.

The wash really brings out the curve of the legs:

Rounded legs

The wood is lifting in places on the back but I think it adds to the charm.  It looks like the chair has always been this way – sitting in someone’s bedroom looking out to the sea.  It has been sealed with Annie Sloan clear wax.

After

I’m planning on bringing her down to the Scituate Rocks Crafts Fair on Saturday, December 1st.  Hope to see some local friends there!  You can meet her in person!

I feel like we’re missing out – firstly we don’t do Halloween much over her, and soon you have Thanksgiving. We just have bonfire night and even that was a bit of a washout. Part of the fireworks display on the beach floated out on the incoming tide !!!
I suppose I could still make your delicious looking pumpkin squares !

I’ve never seen this dessert before, but it looks awesome. Anything with chocolate is good for me….
