Happy Valentine’s Day, Everyone! Now, I must start this post with saying I’m not a huge, crazy fan of valentine’s. I really think you should profess your love for family and friends every day rather than the day the card / chocolate companies say to. Even before having kids Luke and I used to get Thai takeaway and sit on the floor in our flat in London with candles and pretend we were having an indoor picnic.
But saying that, I love doing Valentine’s crafts with my kids. I have two great and easy ones for you today.
Heart Shaped Crayons These are just like the ones we did at Christmas time and so much fun. We decided to make them for John’s class along with handmade Valentine’s cards.
Here is what you need:
Crayons Silicon Baking Heart Shaped Cups
Chop the crayons up (making sure to remove all the paper) and have your kids organize the colors. John and Conor love doing this. Bake them in the oven for 15 minutes at 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
Allow the crayons to cool and then pop them out of the muffin cups. John and Conor love to see the mosaics that are made with the melted crayons. They are truly beautiful:
John is so excited to give them to his little friends today at school. We packaged them up in little bags we got from Target’s dollar section and tied our home-made cards on with twine:
Tonight we are having a romantic night in with the kids. We’ve decided to make our own Thai Red Curry and we are also going to have cupcakes. On pinterest I saw a fun idea using melted chocolate and pretzels. So I thought this would be so fun to do with alphabet cookies to place on top of our cupcakes.
Chocolate Dipped Valentine’s Cookies

Sprinkles
This is so easy and my little, 2 year old loved it. Conor loved doing the sprinkles and looking for the letters we needed. Very sweet.
First melt the chocolate in the microwave and mix together the sprinkles in a bowl. Then you want to dip the bottom of your cookie into the chocolate and then sprinkle on the sprinkles. I put the cookies onto a plate, but I would put them on wax paper when I do it again. We had enough chocolate to even do some bonus dinosaur lollipops!
Here’s how they came out:
They are going to look so very sweet on our vanilla cupcakes tonight. Hope you have a lovely valentines with your loves!
