For me this is ringing true this year. Christmas is not about pretty packages wrapped up in bows nor is it about the biggest tree or the most lavish gift. I believe Christmas is sharing time with your family. The magic is being together.
Two days before Christmas my husband had unexpected surgery. I raced back to the hospital, the kids in the care of my friend and then my parents. As I sat in the gray waiting area, while Luke was in surgery all these thoughts came into my head. Thoughts about my life. About my husband and how much I love him and need him. Thoughts about my kids and how wonderful they are. Thoughts about family and how much we love them. Thoughts about friends and how very much we need them.
Life is a series of moments and of choices. Sometimes these moments we have no control over what will happen. I’m so grateful that Luke’s surgery was a success and that he is home. I’m looking forward to spending a quiet Christmas with my boys and my parents and to holding onto each of them a little tighter.
From our family to your’s: Merry Christmas and a very Happy (and Healthy) New Year!
“When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things—not the great occasions—give off the greatest glow of happiness.” – Bob Hope I’m…
Merry Christmas.
