Thanksgiving Tablescape

Hi Friends! I’m so excited you’re here today.  My friend Bre over at Rooms for Rent styles the most beautiful tablescapes and she’s hosting a fun blog hop this week which I’m so excited to be a part of!

As the leaves slowly change out our window into vibrant shades of yellow, orange and reds and my beloved hydrangeas turn from the vibrant blue of summer into a beautiful purple, I am reminded to count my blessings.  Witnessing the beauty of nature and being graced with so many gifts: a warm home, a loving family and caring friends.

Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate all these things.  As the temperatures drop we return inside our homes to create a nest, fluffing it bit by bit, in order to celebrate holidays together and meals around the table.

Our dining room sees the most action during this time and I’ve brought a few reminders from summer into mine.

Grounding the table is a beautiful ticking stripe runner.  I opted for the Tegan Runner by Birch Lane with the navy stripes.  You know how much I love blue and white together! This runner compliments the blue and white of our dining room set and also plays into my love of the coast.

The runner is layered with candles, hydrangeas I dried from our yard, starfish, sea glass and pottery shards. The boys and I found the pottery and sea glass this summer at the beach and seeing it here on our dining table brings so many happy memories of long, warm days exploring the coast.

This year I decided to order these simple and elegant plates from Birch Lane.  It is the Milford Dining Set in round and comes with plates, bowls, side plates and mugs.  I love the beading on the edge and that it has a slightly distressed quality.

They are perfect for every day use but also dress up for family gatherings. I love using my mom’s china that she passed down to me but these are easy because they are dishwasher safe. Who wants to do a pile of dishes after a lovely Thanksgiving meal?

You might also see the lovely flatware which is also new.  It is the Corbin hammered flatware by Birch Lane. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted hammered flatware.  I think it was when we moved over from England and got our first apartment that I became obsessed with hammered silverware and then I saw this set at the Wayfair Conference and knew I needed it for our home.

I love how the light reflects and glistens off the cutlery.  Isn’t it pretty?

As you can see, our dining room has an easy, breezy coastal style.  I enjoy pairing vintage and new together to create a relaxed environment to entertain.  My Thanksgiving Tablescape incorporates nature, collected treasures, different textures to set the stage for a lovely meal together.
