Seaside Kitchens Tour

Seaside Kitchens Tour was this weekend and I had the great pleasure of designing of one of the homes.

I’ve always dreamed of a big, old barn.

You know, one with lots of character and charm. One that would be perfect for a big party!

Well, we don’t have barn but the next best thing is getting to decorate one. Scituate Education Foundation just hosted it’s fundraiser Seaside Kitchens Tour on Sunday. I had the great honor of decorating one of 5 homes on the tour. On Sunday morning guests found out the surprise location of the 5 homes, each home was decorated in unique ways for the holidays and also had artisans and food.

Scituate Education Foundation benefits the Scituate community by funding innovative educational programs for all ages. It is a great cause and so wonderful to see so many people with so many talents come together to support it and our town.

I know many of you who read the blog are spread all over the country and dotted around the globe. I thought it would be fun to give you a look at how I decorated the barn and porch.

This is what we started with. The before.

We hung burlap in the corner to block off the fridge and additional storage.

This beautiful barn is located on First Parish Road in Scituate’s West End. It truly was a dream for me to turn this space into a whimsical gathering spot. The barn itself had so much charm from the old wood to the barrels and antiques that the home owner collected. I used a lot of items I found in the barn, like this chippy door.

This vintage tin was perfect! Don’t you just love the color?

It was my desire to play up Veteran’s Day and Americana.

The home owner has this gorgeous flag hanging in the barn door and it’s just perfect.

We used lots of fresh pumpkins and hay bales on the outside.

The Galley food truck was on location serving up a delicious food.

The first time I visited the barn I envisioned lots and lots of eucalpytus and twinkling white lights.

This is how it came out:

Inside the barn was live music by The Doc Ellis Duo & Matt Chase.

In addition to the barn, I also decorated the back porch.

Again, Americana and seaside was the theme.

You guys, might recognize some of the elements in this space as they’re from my home – the chippy table, the white table and chairs and the little sailboat (Matthew Mead gave me).

Front Porch Pie Company served pies and took orders for the holidays. The idea was a space to showcase their delicious pies.

Bella Luna Scarves shared this area on the porch with them.

The event was a great success. So many people came out to tour, to eat and to enjoy a day in our seaside town. I hope this gave you some fun ideas for your spaces for the holidays.
