Coastal Christmas in the Sunroom
Christmas by the sea is magical. I thought it would be fun to share our coastal Christmas in the sunroom today.
I’m taking part in a fun Christmas Porch Hop by my friend Taryn over at Taryn Whiteaker Designs. I’m so excited to see how everyone decorated.
Since I don’t really have a proper front porch I thought it would be fun to decorate one of my favorite rooms with you, our sunroom. I moved the tree we had in our dining room last year. Since Luke built the long farmhouse table the pretty Christmas tree doesn’t seem to fit in the space, but it looks so pretty out here.
It would look a bit more Christmas-y if there was snow on the ground or falling outside our windows, but our bush still thinks it’s fall 😉

Things are pretty simple here but the sea. I like to keep my decor simple too. The giant shell is filled with succulents. They are still going strong from summer.
I’m loving these galvanized lanterns from the Magnolia Home line Hearth & Hand at Target. I scooped up two. I shared a few favorite items from their line here if you missed it. I love how versatile they are. Pretty filled with baubles or candles.
The brass accents on them are stunning too!
I adore using candles in our home for every season. It just makes it feel warmer to me.
The green stool usually lives in our kitchen but I thought it looked super cute here beside the wicker chair. Both the stool and chair are from Ikea. I painted the stool last month in this beautiful green!
Being in New England, just up the street from the harbor, it can get pretty cold here in the winter. We love to warm up with fresh baked cookies and hot chocolate. My son, Conor, loves it with large marshmallows. This weekend I’ll be sharing a recipe to make your own and a hot chocolate bar. I had no idea just how good homemade marshmallows are!
I love using green as an accent color. This pillow I painted in watercolor is one of my favorite greens. You can see it here in my Society6 shop.

I know things can feel very busy and hectic at the holidays but this year I’m really trying to enjoy the magic of it all. To slow down and see things through my boys’ eyes. Yesterday, I spent the morning at a botanical class in my art teacher’s home. She has the most adorable Cape in Cohasset and she made our group homemade mince pies and brandy butter. We could select any greenery and berries we wanted to paint to make our own Christmas cards. I didn’t quite finish mine but it was so relaxing to spend the morning sipping coffee with a fun, creative bunch of women while sketching and painting. I’ll share my painting with you once it’s done. Last night, the boys and I drove around and looked at all the Christmas lights while listening to Christmas carols. I knew I had a million things to do once I got home but looking out at all the pretty lights, “oohing and ahhhhing” that’s a bit of Christmas magic right there.
I hope this gave you a few coastal ideas to decorate your porch.
I’m looking forward to checking out all the festive Christmas porches below while sipping some hot chocolate with homemade marshmallow.
I’ll be back later this week with my full house tour and homemade marshmallows on Saturday for the Cozy Living Series.
