The Top 10 Silver Pennies Posts of 2017
2017 was an amazing year! I can’t believe just how quickly it went. Let’s look back at the Top 10 Silver Pennies Posts of 2017!
This year has been a full one, both blogging, and family-wise. We had a great time traveling to the UK with our children back in February, while we stayed close to home with a staycation this summer, visiting Provincetown for the first time. After 6 years of blogging, we had features this year, seven, I think. You can see more here. We tackled some large DIYs inside and out. I also had the privilege of being a Haven Mentor at the Haven Blog Conference, designed a space on a kitchen tour in Scituate, which benefits Scituate Education Foundation, and I took part in Wagner’s InSPRAYtional Design Challenge. All so fun!
I took more painting and art classes and had the courage to open my own Society6 shop. It’s kind of scary to put yourself out there. Thank you all for your continued support as I follow this new passion of watercolor. I’m actually surprised two of my watercolor printables made it into my top posts.
My friend Cami, over at Tidbits, is hosting a top ten posts of 2017 blog hop. All my friends will be sharing their top posts of the year. Be sure to explore all their talents below.
These are the posts that performed the best over the year. These are the most-read posts that were published in 2017. I may actually do a separate post on my favorites. Simply click on the title to be taken to the post.
Top 10 Silver Pennies Posts of 2017
1. Watercolor Bunny
This flop eared bunny is such a sweet little guy. He was inspired by one of my Sister-in-Law’s bunnies in England. I named him Harry and he went viral on Pinterest. I’m so surprised by his popularity and the popularity of the post.
I’ve actually added him to my Society 6 shop if you’d like to order him as a (affiliate links) pillow or tote.
2. The Colors of Our Home
When writing this post, I thought it had the potential to be a top post. Picking the right wall color can be tricky, and sometimes aggravating. I remember I struggled to find the perfect green for the first room we ever painted. Green is hard. In this post I share room by room what color we selected – showing the swatch and also how it looks in a room.
I actually had to update this post because we did our bedroom over in 2017.
Here’s an example of one of our rooms shown in the post – the wall color is Gray Owl and the cabinet color is White Dove:
3. How We Lost 18 Pounds
We took part in the 10 day detox and it was life changing. Well, until we went to England and ate sausages and fried breakfasts and indulged in curry and Yorkshire puddings. Anyway, it’s my goal and Luke’s to get in shape and keep the weight off. This program was great to reset your body. It is amazing how quickly you can make changes and curb cravings. I highly recommend the books, if only to give you some recipes ideas, or dramatically change your lifestyle. I’m trying to limit alcohol and carbs this year.
4. Simply Summer Home Tour
Our little seaside town thrives in summer withe ocean breezes and coastal decor. I love putting simple coastal touches in each room – from fresh flowers to shells found by the sea. This tour includes our entire house and it was pretty popular.
5. Spring Decorating Ideas
I love adding simple pillows, faux florals or some seasonal items to freshen things up, especially after a long winter in New England. This post gave readers some affordable ideas. Many of the items were found at HomeGoods. Our bedroom has changed quite a bit since this post (new hardwoods, board and batten walls but this chippy dresser will always stay)!
6. Christmas Home Tour 2017
I was delighted our Christmas Home Tour made it to the top 10! Yay! I decorated simply with a flocked tree and some really beautiful wreaths and garlands from Balsam Hill. I decided intentionally to decorate very simply this year as I wanted the focus to be on our family and traditions. I guess a lot of you at home are feeling the same way too. Simple is best. Look at those tulips! They’re faux and they’re gonna stay out all winter (and maybe spring) 😉
7. Coastal Christmas in the Sunroom
This post was also a big favorite. We brought the tree that used to reside in our dining room into the sunroom. Having a tree nestled into the corner really livened this space up. The rest of the decor was from Ikea or Target. The stool is Ikea and I painted it a few months back. The pillow is from my Society6 shop.
8. How To Seal Chippy Paint
I think many of you also love authentic chippy paint. I found this gorgeous table at a barn sale and I gave a simple tutorial for sealing chippy paint in. It also has a video with it. Of course our little dog, Max, needed to get in on the action. If you like painting furniture or want to learn more about it, you may like my eBook.
9. Nest Watercolor Spring Free Printable
This is another one of my watercolors. I actually shared how to make the frame and antique the hinges to make them look old as part of this post. This watercolor was inspired by a little robbin’s nest outside our boys’ playroom window.
10. Summer Entry
This is another post I worked with Balsam Hill on. Many people may think of them for their winter decor but their faux florals and figs are gorgeous. You should definitely visit their site to see more.
