Woven roman shades can give any room a coastal and relaxed feel.
The Christmas ornaments are carefully packaged and the fairy lights are tucked away until next year. Good bye, pretty Christmas tree and twinkly lights. It’s time to celebrate a new year! I’m kicking off the new year with some new roman shades!

You may remember before we had heavier dark wooden shades. They made our living and dining area feel so much darker and more serious, but as you know, I’m a beach girl at heart!
We live so close to the sea that I dreamed of brightening things up in here!
These bamboo shades do just the trick. Look how pretty they are!
Can you believe I had them custom made with the Home Depot? I didn’t even know they did that!
The blinds are by Levelor. I ordered a bunch of samples to narrow down the color. I really think you need to see these things in your own home to get the perfect match. We held them up and all weighed in on which we thought suited our home the best. This was the unanimous choice.
The actual color we selected is Bamboo Essence in Origami.
I love how it gives our coastal New England home an island vibe. Perfect, especially with all the storms and snow that occur during the winter months (sigh).
Since our living room opens into our dining room, I used the same roman shades in here:
We are LOVING the new look.
I did keep out my White Christmas wall hanging (for now).
I’m sharing more about these beautiful bamboo roman shades over on The Home Depot Blog, I hope you can visit me there!
Would love to hear what you think about the new addition to our living and dining rooms.

I love them and know you will too. I have some in my kitchen which faces the west and den. I also bought mine from Home Depot, have had them for over a year.
Marlene, we’re so very happy with them 😉 They make such a difference to the feel of the room. xx
What a bright and beautiful change your new shades bring to your home!
They really brighten the room up and add a lovely warm texture.
They’re beautiful! we’ll be doing bamboo shades in our living and dining as well. Did you have them installed by HD?
Hi Tricia, we installed them ourselves but HD provides that service. xx
Can they be purchased with a liner?
Hi Ellie, yes, they can. We opted for a privacy liner but they also do black out lining too.
What a wonderful addition to your beach home! Love how the shades make space appear more bright and airy and add the touch of elegance at the same time. They also add a lovely texture and warm atmosphere. Truly gorgeous!
I’m so glad you love them as much as we do! They really are so elegant, airy and bright. xx
Several yrs. ago I went w/ the bamboo blinds. We have an older house w/ odd size windows. I went through Penny’s and did have sales for them 🙂 They let in light at night and some privacy but w/ lights on in the house a person can see in . So with us going from a private backyard overlooking a cow pasture for 35 yrs to having 1 million dollar 2 story homes facing our backyard & home. So I did put sheers up along w/ my drapes. So there are times I use the sheers w/ the blinds… Read more »
