8 Ways to Make Your Home Feel Cozy

Fall is a great time to retreat inside. Today I’m sharing 8 ways to make your home feel cozy.

Here in New England fall foliage is at its peak and the temperatures are starting to plummet. It’s time to put all the outdoor furniture away until Spring and hunker down.

It’s the first Saturday of November which means it’s time for a new installment of Cozy Living, a blog hop hosted by my friend Jennifer over at Town and Country Living. We’ve been so busy with Halloween and haven’t really thought about all the other upcoming holidays that I thought it would be so fun to write a simple post on brining cozy inside for November.

8 Ways to Make Your Home Feel Cozy

Decorate with Branches

Simple Acer branches from my friend’s tree make for a show stopping centerpiece for a Thanksgiving Table.

They also look gorgeous in our sunroom.

Cuddle Up with Faux Fur

Simple blankets in faux fur are so warm and cozy. We have them through out our home to snuggle. This is in my kids’ playroom, you can read more about that space here and here.

Light Some Candles

I LOVE using candles in our home.

Last winter we made our own candles, see them HERE.

I also love buying scented candles from Target, HomeGoods, the Bloomist, and online. Fragrant candles make a home feel so warm and inviting.

Bake Some Cookies

Nothing says comfort to me more than fresh baked cookies. My kids LOVE these cookies.

Warm Up a Space with Vintage Orientals

I love neutral wall colors but make a statement with our vintage oriental rugs. Would you believe the rug in our living room was a Facebook Yard Sale find.

While the one near the fireplace was a gift from my mom:

Add Some Linen Pillows

My friend Jen over at City Farmhouse and Co. just launched a new business selling her linen designs. I shared more about them on the blog the other week. You can shop for your home here. They add such a lovely texture to a home and are beautifully made.

Decorate with Watercolors

I love painting in watercolors. I shared a painting last month as part of the cozy living hop. You can see all my free printables here, but thought you might like these for Thanksgiving:

Add Textures to a Bedroom

Our bedroom is layered in texture from pretty kilim pillows to handmade sea fan wall art. The simple throw is from Pottery Barn. In the colder months I love going to bed and reading. I’m just finished Educated and I’m currently reading The Shining and The Goldfinch. Next up will be some biographies.

Create Pumpkin Luminaries

For a festive outdoor gathering, create festive pumpkin luminaries.

While you’re at it, roast the pumpkin seeds.

I hope this gave you a few ideas for making your home cozy for fall.
