Teen Bedroom Makeover Plans

I’m so excited to share our teen bedroom makeover plans! John and I have been hard at work on his bedroom and can’t wait for you to see what we have planned.

You guys might remember that we all swapped rooms in the summer. See that post here. We shared Conor’s makeover here and plans for our bedroom here and here.

This will be the third makeover for this room. We originally had this room as our guest room and we stenciled the feature wall and darkened the wood trim. Here it was as the guest room:

Then I decided I wanted a studio / office in the guest room when my husband started working from home. I turned it into a multi purpose room here:

Well, now we need the room for John and here’s the plan.

Teen Bedroom Makeover Floor Plan

John’s room is so hard to layout. There are two doors, a window, a bookshelf with a heater at the bottom, and little alcove where the eave is.

We tried different positions for the bed and this layout seems to make the most sense as he’ll have a light over his bed and he can enjoy the cool ocean breezes come summer.

A desk and a dresser is a must so they will be along the featured wall.

Here’s another perspective. This is not the actual color scheme or products but just to show layout and a rough feel.

I’m actually repainting his old dresser which used to be mine. You may remember I painted it 9 years ago with a Union Flag motif, but we’re now going white as he wants something more grown up.

Luke and John are actually building a Parsons style desk which I will paint white once it’s finished. He’s still using his old desk but absolutely loves his new desk chair.

Well, that’s the plan! Can’t wait to hear what you guys think! Phew, teenage boys are harder to work with than toddlers or tweens. John has a lot of opinions and wants to fit EVERYTHING in this small space. He’s talking about brining his keyboard up from the playroom. So we’ll see how that goes…
