Favorite Day Trip
We went down to Rhode Island on a day trip and I think I’m gonna write two separate posts about it. One about Green Animals in Portsmouth and one about our afternoon in Newport, but for now I just wanted to share two photos.
How pretty are these pinecones we spotted at Green Animals Topiary Gardens:
We had glorious weather – sunny and 70s. I would have thought it was summer if I didn’t know it was October.
Here’s a peek at Rosecliff, one of the Newport Mansions. We wanted to go to the Elms but they’re filming in it for the Gilded Age right now.
Favorite Magazine
I’m so far behind in my book reading. Lately I’ve been reading LOADS of magazines, BUT one stood out over the others!!!!
Feel Free is a new magazine by Leanne Ford and it feels fresh and inspiring. It’s all about creativity – a subject you all know I’m passionate about. You will love this magazine. I found it at Shaws Supermarket but you can also order it here on Leanne’s site.
Favorite Reading Spot
I LOVE to sit here in the sunroom to read. You may recognize the chippy basket.
The chair is from Ikea – it’s a poang and probably the most comfy chair EVER and such a great price. The poof and side table are pretty affordable too!
Favorite TV & Movies
Wow, I honestly, don’t know where to start. There’s so many things we’re loving right now.
Derry Girls is on Netflix and is a comedy set in Northern Ireland in the 90s. It’s very funny.
Magpie Murders this is brand new on Masterpiece and is brilliant! We’ve only watched the first episode (twice), but if you love Poirot I think you’ll love this.
Miss Scarlet and the Duke – Another brilliant murder mystery type show but the lead (private investigator) is a woman. Set in the early 1900s.
Abbot Elementary – great show set in an elementary school. Very funny.
Persuasion a new adaption of a Jane Austen classic. LOVED the new spin on it and how Dakota Johnson broke the 4th wall.
Love in the Villa – Cute rom com. A bit slow at the start but ended up enjoying.
Favorite Exhibit
On Sunday we took our boys to the MFA in Boston for the day. We LOVE this museum. We also love the cafe in the atrium.
We booked in to see the Obama Portraits first. I can’t believe how big they are in person and we really enjoyed learning more about them. We strolled the museum and had lunch and then enjoyed the new Life Magazine exhibit.
If you live close to Boston this exhibit is a must see! It’s quite a large exhibit and it really is so interesting from the standpoint of history and seeing how stories were laid out and photographed. It was also quite fascinating to learn about things that were omitted due to the editors being mostly white men.
So many of the images I only saw for the very first time. They have the moon landing and this iconic one (above), but the exhibit does a wonderful job looking at women, race, and different ethnicities.
We all enjoyed it very much. Very powerful.
Favorite Art Supply Shop
Of course, I can’t go to the MFA and NOT go to Blick! This is the interior of Blick Fenway and it’s about a 15 minute walk from the museum. WE LOVE this shop so much. Conor got pens, I got lots of watercolor paper, a few new brushes, and some paints. John got clown make up as he’s going as a clown for Halloween.
Blick prices are just better for everything. I also started using this paper and love the size and texture. See more watercolor paper I love!
Favorite Clothing
I think you all know I’m quite short. Only 5 ft and a half in, so I always like to wear boots to make me a bit taller.
I found these comfortable boots at T.J. Maxx for such a great price! I love the color too.
They make me 3 inches taller 😉
Favorite Steps
I’m not sure if you saw but I shared the reveal of our back patio the other day. I’m LOVING these steps…
Favorite NEW Products
I shared a few of these the other day. We now have tea towels which I’m really excited about! So far there are three versions – two coastal and one holiday themed. I’ll add more if they do well. I’ve also added some new note cards (linked in the caption below).
Favorite Paint Color
We just painted Luke’s tool shed. I’ll be doing a mini reveal post soon, but had to share the color! How fabulous is this color? It’s called Crisp Linen by Behr and it’s a wonderful warm white.
Favorite Thing We’re Still Picking
Can you believe we’re still picking tomatoes here in Scituate? I sure can’t! I don’t think it will last too much longer but we’re loving making this salad with them.
Favorite Online Class
This month I’m taking part in a thirty day dreamy landscape challenge and really learning so many new techniques. I’m loving this class by Zaneena Nabeel. I’ve never really painted mountains before and I did this painting with my own spin on the colors from her class.
I’m happy to offer my readers one month of Skillshare premium for free!
Well, I think that covers all my favorites! Hope you enjoyed this installment of Friday Favorites! You can see all of them here. Now, it’s your turn! What are the things you’re loving right now?
