New Hardwood Furniture for Outdoors

This post has been a long time coming! I’ve been searching for the perfect furniture for our outdoor patio and I finally found it! Today I’m sharing our new hardwood furniture for outdoors!

If you’ve been a long time follower then you know we redid this space last year. You can see the patio reveal here. We tore our old deck down, built a shed, and had this beautiful patio and steps built.

The NEW space was glorious. I LOVED it! Luke LOVED it! EVERYONE loved it, but our old table was too small and we only had 4 matching chairs which were starting to fall apart. The patio is now 25 x 12 but our previous deck was 12 x 12 so the cedar table Luke built just looked too small.

We discussed Luke building a modular table in squares that we could split apart, but when we priced the wood we thought it just might be cheaper to buy something. So I dragged Luke to Ikea, HomeGoods (repeatedly), and many other stores in between. You may remember I had really good luck at HomeGoods for our teak set by our pool.

Well, after much searching I’m so excited to share we found the PERFECT table AND Chairs! Read on to learn more about them!

Danish Eucalyptus Stacking Chairs

These are certainly the most comfortable wooden chairs we’ve ever sat in. EVER. I’m 5 feet tall and Luke is 5’10” and despite the height difference we both find these chairs comfortable. In our house, furniture has to be comfortable, of course, I like things to look nice too.

These Danish Eucalyptus Chairs are modeled after chairs by Danish furniture legend Hans J. Wegner. We first sat on them at a local garden center and knew we had to have them in our yard. The cheapest I found them online was at Hayneedle. I signed up for emails and saved an additional 10% and it was free shipping. Hammacher Schlemmer also has them for a good price and also have the covers, which I plan on ordering.

Sealing the Chairs

If you follow me on Instagram then you saw in stories that I was sealing them the other morning. These chairs require an oil finish because they just come with a sprayed on factory finish and we are exposed to salt air, which does a number on anything. Here’s how to oil your outdoor furniture.

Our New Table

Okay, are you ready for the NEW table? This is how it arrived and Luke and John put the legs on:

The new teak table is 98″ long so this is quite a table. We are able to fit three chairs down either side and one on each end. We love to entertain so this is a wonderful size for us. We can spread out pizza, apps, or a full meal.

This is made of reclaimed teak which is so much better for the environment. I will say there are areas where the teak has been patched but that doesn’t bother me. I like things with patina and charm, but I know it might bother some people.

They were doing a deal when I bought the table so I got it for a pretty good price. But both the chairs and table are an investment. We believe in buying good quality so that we can have them forever.

I still need to oil this table.

Location of Our Patio

I thought I’d share a few photos of the location of our patio in relation to the rest of the yard. You might also like this little reel I shared of the space on Instagram.

Our patio is just off the back of the house. We wanted the patio and the pool to feel like they’d always been here. It’s hard to imagine that just 10 years ago this yard was a blank slate with only the butterfly bush planted.

We’ve added so much and really this is our favorite place to be. Lots of plants, trees, and spaces to relax.

I love the hardwood furniture against the gray patio. It feels so warm and inviting now.

Everything looks even more magical with fairy lights, right? Let’s take a peek at this set at night with the lights on. This was the other night after we hung out by the pool.
