Favorite Christmas Decor + Sources

It is still very much fall in our home, but I’ve started thinking about decorating for Christmas. Last year, I felt so overwhelmed but this year I’m so excited about the holidays and I’m really looking forward to decorating our home. I’ve started investing in some new items and thought I’d share what I’ll be decorating with. I, of course, have some old favorites that come out every year too.

This year is extra special because John will be home for the holidays and we’re excited to spend lots of family time at home – sipping hot chocolate, reading by the fire, playing games etc.

My Christmas Style

I think you all know this but I love a very traditional / natural look for Christmas. I love coastal things but with a kind of nod to the old and traditions of the past.

This post also contains affiliate links, if you purchase a product via the link I may receive a percentage of the sale. You can read my full disclosure policy here. Thank you for supporting my blog in this way.

I love faux fur blankets that are, oh, so cozy. I also love Chappywrap (they have some lovely holiday themed throws), candles and fresh greenery tucked in everywhere!

Some years I love red and some years I love white, but read on for all for all of my favorite ideas from this upcoming holiday to holidays passed.

This year is the first year in a while that I’ve needed to replace and update some of our old favorites. Sometimes it can be so disappointing when you order something and it doesn’t look at all like the photo online. I wanted to help take the guess work out for you guys so you can get decorating as soon as you’re ready to.

Favorites on Amazon

First of all, I was delighted to see some of my favorite brands are now selling on Amazon.

Amazon Favorites Christmas Ideas

For years, I’ve shopped Balsam Hill, Afloral, and others and it makes it so much easier to share the links with you on one board.

Reasons I Love These Products

Balsam Hill – Balsam Hill’s trees, garlands, and wreaths are amazing quality. Year after year I reach for the Cypress Berry Wreath and Garlands to hang on our front door. I switch up the bows but have enjoyed these outdoors for years and they still look wonderful. I stuck some starfish on the wreath to give it a more coastal feel.

Our window candles are also from Balsam Hill. When I was little I loved the tradition of having candles in the windows. I love how realistic the Miracle Flame candles look. We’ve had them for many years. I think you can see them here int he windows. We just put them in our front windows.

Our Christmas tree is a Balsam Hill Tree. We got it back in 2018 and it still looks wonderful and so realistic. In the post linked you can see many beautiful ornaments from Balsam Hill.

Realistic looking Faux Christmas tree

Over the years, we’ve had real trees and this faux tree and we’ve tried different locations in the dining room and living room. I’m still not sure where it will end up this year.

Afloral – Afloral is an other brand I always trust with my home decor. I’ve bought amazing vessels and faux plants and greenery from them. This year I ordered several items that I’m really excited to share with you! I ordered the Norfolk Real Touch Garland which will go along on our mantel. It feels so real but I won’t have to worry about pine needles falling into our gas fireplace.

I also ordered the Juniper garland for our dining table and just got some blue candles from Pottery Barn that perfectly match the berries. The cambray tapers will look great in my vintage brass candlesticks.

Favorite DIY Ideas

We really love making the holidays our own and have done many DIYs from ornaments to gingerbread house cakes. Last year I was feeling so overwhelmed I only shared this post of 27 DIY Christmas ideas, it’s worth a read.

I love drying orange slices or going in the woods and clipping branches. To me a little goes a long way with Christmas decor. We love using clear glass ornaments to make our own baubbles. I have a few fun ideas to test out this year. Fingers crossed that they work so I can share them with you.
