What Women Create Feature
Friends, I have something really exciting to share with you! I’ve been keeping a little secret but today I can finally share more. I’m honored to be featured in the Spring 2025 issue of What Women Create!
What Women Create Feature

To see my work and my business to be featured in this issue of What Women Create is a dream come true and so humbling. The editors felt I would be a good feature for the “Art of Business” and wanted me to share some of the tips and tricks I use to grow my own stationery businesses.
The artists in this issue are all so inspiring. I enjoyed reading the issue cover to cover with a mug of tea in front of the fire, Max snuggled next to me. I got lost in the journeys – beautiful shell art in Florida, Cyanotype prints in Cumbria, gorgeous 3-D embroidery inspired by a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in Ontario, Canada, and so much more.
A Look Back
It was a wonderful exercise for me to take a look back. To think about my childhood, my education, and motherhood and how they all played a role in my creative business now. I know so many of you have read the blog from the beginning. So it feels like a treat to share this feature with you all. I was featured a few years ago in Where Women Create, photographed by Matthew Mead. Back then I was focused on painting furniture and painting with watercolors on the side. It was before we launched the online shop. So much has happened since then.
Behind the Scenes
My good friend and super talented photographer Kjeld Mahoney came over for a shoot in the sunroom and we also headed to his gallery to capture a few outdoor shots by the marsh.
I thought I’d give you a little behind the scenes look:

It was a lovely sunny day. The lighting was perfect. I painted a bit. Kjeld captured that and also Max & Poppy.

I mean, look at those faces!!!! They are the sweetest dogs.
Kjeld also captured some shots of my work. If you ever wonder how big I paint these are original watercolors on 9 x 12 watercolor paper:

I try to paint larger so I can scan my illustrations in at 600 dpi and enlarge them even more without pixelation for wallpaper or prints.

I think my favorite ones are with Luke’s Kei Truck by the marsh. Kjeld had the idea of putting the easel up on the bed of the truck and having me paint right there. It was perfect! So whimsical. So coastal.

So, this, I believe, is the central question upon which all creative living hinges: Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you?”
– Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear
Thank You!
I wanted to say a huge thank you to What Women Create and Kjeld for making this issue possible, but I also owe a huge thank you to you at home. Starting this blog (14 years ago this year) was the catalyst that made me realize I had creativity in me – hidden, but there. I believe EVERYONE is creative and it’s my goal through this blog and through my watercolor classes and products I make to inspire that creativity.
The magazine is on newsstands now! I can’t wait to hear what you all think!
