A Pretty Shell Vignette
Treasures from the sea and vintage ironstone are the foundation for this pretty shell vignette.
I thought this little vignette would be perfect to share at the Summer Mantel and Decor hop hosted by my friend Krista. There are over 20 beautiful summer ideas to inspire and you can click all the links at the bottom of this post.
I intended on sharing our mantel as I love decorating it seasonally BUT we had a yard sale over the weekend and I still have lots of leftover treasures that I’m trying to re-home 😉 If anyone reading is looking for vintage treasures send me an email. I might have just what you’ve been searching for.
Anyway, I decided to focus on this pretty vintage cabinet, which I also decorate seasonally.

I painted it a few years ago and it sits in the corner of our dining room. The color of this cabinet is Miss Mustard Seed’s Eulalie’s Sky. I really love blue and white together.
I LOVE shells. In fact, I have a vast collection. When we moved, 6 years ago, I packed 14 boxes of shells.
We live in a small coastal town, and live right in the harbor. So shells are a year round decor item. I love them on shelves, in bowls, on mirrors, well, pretty much everywhere.
Shells collected in white ironstone looks elegant and timeless.
There’s something about the color and the shape of shells, I find so relaxing and beautiful. Their intricacies mesmerize.
I’m reminded of a line from a very favorite book, A Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. I read it each summer as I love it so much.
“The sea does not reward those who are too anxious, too greedy, or too impatient. To dig for treasures shows not only impatience and greed, but lack of faith. Patience, patience, patience, is what the sea teaches. Patience and faith. One should lie empty, open, choiceless as a beach – waiting for a gift from the sea.”
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh
Everything in this little vignette is thrifted. Some from the sea. Some from the thrift / antique store.
I think that ironstone pitcher I got for a few dollars. The pussy willows are from the spring and I just couldn’t part with them yet.
A lone starfish sits next to it.
The blue and white is so dreamy together.
Though, I do love the warmth the tarnished mirror brings.
So very simple, but perfect for summer.
I hope this gave you a few ideas for using shells and vintage finds in your own homes.

What a beautiful spot to place them! That cabinet color is to die for!
Thank you! Can you believe I got the cabinet for 20 bucks?!?
What a beautiful corner. I love the color of your cabinet and the shells. Perfect for summer! I pinned it to my summer board 🙂
xoxo
Thanks for pinning! I can’t help my love for shells 🙂
Just love the blue and white combination. 14 boxes of shells, WOW! I love that they are so versatile and easy to change around. Thanks for sharing and have a great summer!
Blue and white makes me so happy! I know can you believe 14 boxes. I probably have more now, too, but I’m getting rid of other collections.
Love shells and the blue and white look great together!
