A Stroll on the Vineyard

If you’ve been following along on Instagram or Facebook then you maybe saw this picture:

This was taken right after we arrived in Edgartown and I hadn’t even put my bags down in my room yet.  How beautiful is this porch with all the pretty blue rocking chairs?

I’ve been up editing photos of our trip with HGTV and GMC of the HGTV Dream Home (and I’m no where near done) and since we’re getting up in the wee hours of the morning for Brimfield I thought I’d give you a glimpse of what a stroll through Edgartown is actually like.

Grab your coffee and get ready to have your breath taken away!

Our hotel, The Harbor View Hotel:

Harbor View Hotel

So let’s walk shall we?!? Let’s turn right out of the hotel and just see what we can see.

The lighthouse looks beautiful even the sea mist.  I had a beautiful view of this lighthouse from my hotel window:

Lighthouse Edgartown in Fog

Martha’s Vineyard epitomizes the coastal look – cedar shingles (or shakes as they say in other parts of the country) weathered and kissed by the ocean air.  Climbing roses that wind their way up gorgeous trellises.

Chippy Door

A chippy green door with antique lights.  I loved the painted deck and the window above the door.

Windy Road to the Sea in Edgartown

A road to the sea, where else do you need to go here?

Time seemed to slow and I felt like a was drifting into another era.  Of pretty white houses and parties and leisure.

Porch Swing

Victorian Inn

So many pretty white buildings restored and splendid.

Or being restored.  I asked what was going on here.  This home was jacked up on supports.  It was built in the early 1800s and the originally foundation was crumbling underneath it so a new one was built. They were moving it onto the new foundation that day; a crowd lined the sidewalk in anticipation of the event.

Historic Home Being Moved

One of the nicest things about being on the vineyard is this preservation of the past.  It is realized here how important these historic homes are and much is done to look after and care for properties.

Pale Pink Flowers in Window Boxes

Liz and I enjoyed this walk and we sipped coffee and chatted.  We oohed and ahhhhhed over all this beautiful architecture and decor all the while taking as many pictures as we could.

I’m so excited to give you a full tour of the HGTV Dream Home on Monday.  You’re gonna love it!  Until then, keep your fingers crossed that I find loads of treasures today at Brimfield.

Oh, and I wondered, do you think I’d ride my bike more if I had a pretty pale blue one like this?

Wow your photos captured it beautifully. I will be spending quite a bit of time here this spring and summer as my parents live on the island. Now with the shop closed i can actually go there! We love the Harborview…but I have never stayed there, how was your room?! How awesome to be on the HGTV dream team. You are always doing something amazing.
