A Vintage Nightstand Named Emma
Meet Emma!
The minute I saw this little nightstand, I just knew she had to be black!
She looked like this when I bought her at Goodies II in the Harbor. Oh, and I must tell you she’s heavier than she looks. I was sweating carrying her to the car.
Here she is in our front walk way:
I decided to paint her in General Finishes’ Lamp Black Milk Paint, but before the black I did Persian Blue on the interior. This is such a pretty blue and pairs so well with black.
I scuff sanded before applying the paint. I did two coats in each color. Then I distressed the entire piece and sealed the black paint with Annie Sloan’s clear wax. Inside the drawers also is that lovely blue.
Emma looks so much prettier now, don’t you think?
The pretty brass hardware, reminiscent of the one on the Michelle Buffet click here to see, now really shows up against the black.
If you’ve been reading the blog for awhile then you know I really, really love ball and claw feet.
Emma is truly an exquisite piece and would be beautiful by any bedside.
I’ve decorated her with some upcycled sea fans and books.
She has just the right amount of storage too.
What do you think of her?
The Emma Nightstand and the sea fans are available for sale at the Kjeld Mahoney Gallery in Scituate Harbor.
Oh, and before I forget as you read this I’ll be on my way to Martha’s Vineyard with GMC to tour the HGTV Dream Home! I’m so excited! Be sure to follow along on Facebook and Instagram I’ll be sharing photos!!!!
