Across the Pond (Part 3): Trebarwith Strand

I am a beach girl at heart, but my favorite beach is not in Scituate.

It is in Cornwall and is called the Trebarwith Strand.

I first visited this beach in May 1999 and it was just as beautiful then.  Luke brought me down to Cornwall to meet his family and we spent an afternoon at this beach.  We climbed these rocks with his nieces and nephews and picked the mussels that clung to their sides.

That night we made moules provencal and I couldn’t resist the garlicky aroma.  It was my first taste of mussels and certainly not my last.  Yum.

The spell was cast then and to this day it is my favorite beach.  This was Conor’s first time to  Trebarwith.

It is such a magical place with the cliffs and caves.  The blue waters crashing against them.  It was so special to share this place with him.

There are stories about pirates and smugglers.  Many films have been set here.

A trip to Trebarwith wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Port William (or as our family likes to call it the Port Bill).

The pub is my favorite.  The views of the crashing waves are amazing.  Here’s our entire family (except for Matt, Lisa and Harper) enjoying the pub.

The menu actually says that there is a cave that leads up to the pub.  John and Conor loved the idea of pirates and smugglers.

We spent much time there chatting.  Watching the gulls…

Enjoying Pimm’s.  My favorite seaside beverage:

Enjoying the views:

Even taking a dip in the sea:

I was told that the water was cold.  Perfect moments spent at my favorite beach. I think we’ll have to take another trip there before we leave!

What beautiful pictures! The water is so clean and clear. I can imagine the boys loving the idea of pirates and smugglers. Looks like a magical place.

Oh, you must be so excited! There are so many lovely historic homes and castles you can visit. The beach was lovely and we actually went back there yesterday. The weather has been perfect. Sunny and a heat wave, but usually the English weather is more wet than it has been.

We didn’t get to Tintagel this trip. We got to Boscastle, Daymer, Lanhydrock and a few times at Trebarwith 🙂
