Adele (Before & After)
Meet Adele!
French Desk (After) |
Isn’t she a pretty lady? I had a little help making her over from my Annie Sloan Work Book (which I absolutely love), the singer Adele (who I always listen to while painting) and I also tried out Artisan Enhancements pearl plaster.
I first planned out what I wanted to do with her in my Annie Sloan Work Book. Annie’s book is fabulous because you can sketch, mix colors and paint right in it:
My ideas |
I mentioned Adele in a previous post. This is how she was looking before. Slightly dated and a dingy white:
Before |
She certainly needed a day or two at the spa! I painted her in two coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Antoinette. It is a lovely pale pink with a hint of brown. For the trim, I knew I wanted Old White, but was inspired by this post by my friend, Nancy, over the at the Sea Rose Cottage.
Artisan Enhancements’ Pearl Plaster |
Nancy mixed together Artisan Enhancements’ pearl plaster with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to get a pearlized finish. She mixed this in a 10 to 1 ratio. I only did 10 teaspoons to 1 teaspoons of the Old White as I didn’t need tons. I got my work book, chalk paint and pearl plaster from The Sea Rose Cottage. This is how the Pearl Plaster looks:
Pearl Plaster |
What girl doesn’t like shimmer right? I absolutely love the look. It is subtle and sophisticated but would also appeal to young girls too! The pearl plaster gets thicker as you work with it so I was trying to get it done quickly!
Old White and Pearl Plaster Detail |
The old knob had to go.
Original Knob |
It was replaced with this glass one from Target:
The whole piece was sealed Annie Sloan Clear Wax and lightly buffed. What do you think?
If anyone local is interested in bringing Adele home, she’s available at the Kjeld Mahoney Gallery in Scituate Harbor.

Just beautiful Danielle! Love the extra shimmer! And I listen to Adele while painting too – must be girl power!
I LOVE this, Danielle! My mother in law just gave me a desk very similar…and I knew right away I would be keeping it and not selling it. My girls would LOVE a pink shimmery desk…so cute!
