Everyone is a bit blue here with the Patriots loss last night so I guess this blue valentine post is appropriate. 🙁
Well, many people have been so busy with Valentine’s ideas and fun mantels and I’ve done nothing in this department. The other day, I looked at our front door and realized that the Christmas swag was starting to look a little tired and a little, well, passé.
I saw these plywood hearts for 99 cents at Michael’s and thought they would be perfect:
Luke drilled holes into the top. I decided that red was predictable, but blue, ASCP Greek Blue, was the color to go with:
One coat of paint later and I decided to do a beach inspired one for the front door and a conversation heart for the entry way. For the beachy one, I used clear and dark wax and glued on some starfish:
For the front door
Then I took, the second one and printed out “Be Mine” on the computer and used the transfer method I learned on AKA Design.
Take the back of the paper and rub all over with the pencil lead. Then place the paper where you want the words to go. Trace the words and then you’ll get an outline of the words.
I then took my trusty painters pen and filled in the words to look like a conversation heart. I thought it needed a little sparkle. What girl doesn’t like sparkle, right? So I got some Martha Stewart glitter out
did the words and the outline in a purple / blue glitter.
and here is the conversation heart:
What do you think? Not bad for 99 cents each! I’ll be sharing more Valentine’s ideas and crafts later this week – some really fun kids ones!
