Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker Giveaway
On Sunday, we (all of us) got dressed up and went into Boston to see the Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker at the Opera House. To say we were excited would be an understatement. John and Conor are now 8 and 5 years old and I saw the ballet for the first time at John’s age. They wore their brand new blazers for such a special occasion.
Someone walking by took this photo. We were so excited to get inside.
The Opera House is such a gorgeous building.
Look at the facade. It is just as beautiful on the inside.
John and Conor both got little Nutcrackers and were so excited to see so many on display in the Opera House.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you may have seen this photo of us while we were at the show:
I can not believe my little babies are old enough to take to see the Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker.
The show itself was amazing. It actually snows on stage as you can see in the above photo. The tree grows right before your eyes to nearly 43 feet tall. I was worried that the boys would wonder why there why the performers didn’t speak, but they were so focused on the show.
The dancers are so graceful and elegant –
The sets were hand painted frescos and almost reminded me of antique paper doll sets. The costumes were gorgeous! Stunning! This production’s costumes represent the Regency Period of the 19th Century so looked very “Jane Austen” and you all know how much I like that!!!
How beautiful are these dresses? The fabric moved so fluidly while they danced.
The orchestra was also so amazing. We were riveted.
After the performance we walked through Boston Common.
It was such a gorgeous and warm night for late November. Perfect for a stroll.
Can you believe how grown up John looks? He’s nearly as tall as me now!!!
We finished the night, with a post theater dinner at P.F. Chang’s.
It was delicious!
We had such a wonderful time! Seeing the Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker with my family was the perfect way to start this holiday season. It filled us with warmth in our hearts and holiday cheer. Took my girls when they were small, my youngest will go to grad school next year somewhere in the USA . So maybe we should see it one more time before they all scatter !
Oooh! Gorgeous photos! I’d love to take my kids!
Miss Katie has yet to go and I’m sure she would be thrilled big brother Jack would probably think it was pretty cool too sounds like a great family event. The season is crazy busy but this is a wonderful tradition one I did many times with my mom when I too was little.
Love the Nutcracker! I haven’t been since my girls were small, now I’m thinking of taking my granddaughters. The Opera House is so beautiful. I have only been there once since it was done over & have fond memories of rock concerts there in the 70’s.
Would love to see the Nutcracker with my family, its so magical!!
So beautiful! Can’t wait to get dressed up to see this!
I love this, thanks!
The pictures are really impressive. It made me want to take my granddaughter. At 5 she would just go crazy! Her mother and her other grandmother would make it a girl’s night out! There is something so fairy-like to watch dancers float across the stage… Thanks for sharing…enjoyed your blog!!
We love the ballet, especially the Nutcracker. I also love all of your amazing works of art. I really enjoy seeing your posts keep them coming! We would love to take the girls this year to see the Nutcracker! Thanks!

Oh I love The Nutcracker ballet! Although I have seen other renditions, my husband and I saw the Boston Ballet Nurcracker 20 years ago (can it be that long ago?) on our honeymoon, It was a night to remember. We just spoke about going again last evening! Also love your blog and check in almost everyday. Just bought a pint of Annie Sloan paint and am getting ready to paint a sideboard I have had for years. You are an inspiration! Thank you.
My daughters and I would love to see The Nutcracker! Thanks for such a great giveaway!
Hope to see boston ballets nutcracker some day!
I would love to take my daughter. She loves to watch clips of the nutcracker online.
I’d love to win! My 4 year old keeps hear it the commercial and asks to go, but we really can’t afford it this year.
Danielle,
You all scrub up so well. it looks like a gorgeous opera house and sound like you thoroughly enjoyed it. I watched it for the first time in Dublin with my sister Mary who celebrates her birthday in December so it has special memories for me too.
Looks like a great day/evening out.

I’m so glad to see a family doing these sorts of things together! I hope the boys enjoyed it.
I’d love to be considered in this giveaway. My sister (and best friend!) is writing a piece inspired by the Nutcracker and I’d love to take her to an actual show. She’s been going through a rough patch in the past few years and I think she could use a little more magic and snowy inspiration in her life.
Best,
E
Every year my mom and I say we are going to go, but never pull the trigger and buy tickets! We have seen The Nutcracker preformed in both DC and Richmond, but never here in Boston! I hold a special place for it in my heart as well, I danced in a few shows when I was a young girl. What a fantastic giveaway, and memories for you and your boys!
I have never seen, but have always wanted to see The Nutcracker
I would love to win these tickets! Such a festive holiday event and I used to dance when I was younger!
I would love to see The Nutcracker for the first time and take my family.
