Christmas in the Dining Room (2016)
“When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things—not the great occasions—give off the greatest glow of happiness.” – Bob Hope
I’m bursting at the seams to share today’s post – Christmas in the dining room!
On Friday, I shared a few peeks in here . I’m keeping our decorating so simple this year.
I want to be able to focus on the meaning of the holiday and spending quality time with our kids.
This is a view you don’t often see here on the blog. This is our dining room from the living room. Boy, do I love these columns!
We added this streamlined tree last year and love how festive it. I love having fairy lights in the dining room.
I placed the tree in an old woven basket I found down in the basement.

The tree is decorated simply with only a few ornaments.
They are the French Country Ombre ones from Balsam Hill. I love the light hint of blush to them.
As you can imagine, I was quite excited to decorate our new Welsh Dresser with Christmas greenery.
All the greenery is faux and I added some ornaments to my ironstone.
So festive and simple, right?
I kept the pears out I had at Thanksgiving and I’m hoping to add to my ironstone collection. It’s always fun to have something “to hunt for”.
I’m also going to search for more marmalade containers like these.
The deer was a gift from my mom a few years ago.
He looks so regal here.
My milk painted cabinet also looks festive for Christmas.
Don’t mind the mess in the playroom…
The bubble vase filled with greenery is from Bambeco and I love it. It’s actually made from recycled soda bottles. I have a fun giveaway going on with them, click here for your chance to win.
The pretty trees were from Target last year.
The other deer is over here too.
The blue and white theme is carried out on our table. The woven runner is from Target and you may recognize it from Thanksgiving. In fact, I find this runner great for every season here by the sea. I love the woven texture and it works summer through fall and into winter.
All I’ve placed on the table are candles (real and faux) and some terracotta from Birch Lane.
The glow of candles look so pretty as the sun goes down.
My brass candlesticks are antiques, but you can find similar ones here.
As you can imagine we’re so excited to see our family who is coming all the way from Australia to celebrate with us.
I keep picturing us all sitting here chatting over champagne or coffee (or whisky Luke says).
Only 16 more days until they arrive! Yay! We’re all so excited.
Well, that’s how our dining room is looking this year. I hope you enjoyed the simplicity!
There will be a few changes in the new year in this room. The rug now doesn’t fit properly due to the Welsh Dresser and Luke is going to build me a new dining table. So I will be selling our dining set and looking forward to finding some new chairs too.
Until then we’ll enjoy it just as it is.
