Christmas in New England Home Tour
I’m so delighted to be taking part in Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday Housewalk this year! Last year I was feeling a bit overwhelmed but this year I’m so excited to share our Christmas in New England Home Tour!
You can start the tour from the very beginning on Jen’s blog! The tour is a little different this year as we’re all sharing today, but you can go house to house. I’ve been friends with Jen for so long and it’s wonderful to be taking part again this year. She is so incredibly talented and always does such a wonderful job organizing a beautiful tour. I always love how she decorates! See Jen’s post here.
I’m stop number 2:
Welcome to our Scituate Harbor home! If you’re new around here, thanks for stopping by! We live in the small fishing town of Scituate which is on Boston’s South Shore. We spent the weekend decorating and I’m so excited to share some fun ideas with you.
First up, we decorated Luke’s little Kei Truck for the holidays. I actually painted a holiday card that looked just like this so it’s a case of life imitating art! This card was just featured in the Boston Globe Magazine 2024 New England Gift Guide.

Our Exterior
I was hoping for some snowy photos but instead it still looks a bit like fall here. Our window boxes are filled with boxwood, several varieties of evergreen, and holly. I love decorating in a very natural way.
Our garlands are from Balsam Hill and we’ve had them for years. The lights no longer work so I strung larger bulbs on.
The wreath is real and I love the fresh greenery with cinnamon sticks and pine cones. The wreath, bow and fresh greenery are all from R&C Farms in Scituate, a wonderful family run farm.
We, of course, don’t park the Kei Truck right in front of the house, but I thought it would make a cute photo.
Decorating the Kei Truck
We used this tree from Ikea on the Kei Truck and Luke strapped it down with rope and this thing isn’t moving in heavy winds! It’s so fun driving around town with the tree on the back. Everyone smiles at the mini truck with the Christmas tree.
We usually park it the driveway and it looks just so sweet at night:
Let’s head inside shall we?
Christmas in the Kitchen
We have a very traditional white kitchen with period details, like the built in china cabinet. The red bronco tea towel and candy cane notepad are from my holiday collection.
Our family tradition is to turn on the Beach Boys Christmas album and decorate the tree while we eat Christmas cookies. These cookies were from Walkers and Ikea. The gingersnaps are so good!
How sweet is this little bird house with the cardinal? My mom brought it for Thanksgiving and she knows how much I LOVE cardinals (I also have a few on our tree).
I strung a faux garland on the window and added dried orange slices. Learn to make your own dried orange slices here.
The holiday watercolor tea towel can be found in my online shop. I absolutely love the white paint we chose for our cabinets and can you believe these are stick on subway tiles?
Let’s head next door to the dining room…
Christmas in the Dining Room
It was a real treat to style the Welsh dresser with our new (old) Cornishware for Christmas!
Blue and white stripes mixed with fresh greenery is a winning combination!
The garland is new this year and these chambray tapers perfectly match the color of the berries. The candle holders are vintage.
More dried oranges on my Cornishware striped plates…
The bar cart is temporarily nestled under the beautiful oil painting by John Fragassi that I framed at the Frame Center. The bar cart ususally lives where the tree currently is.
I always love decorating my little painted cabinet for the seasons.
I kept my plants out and just added a little wreath.
Let’s head through the columns into the living room. The fire is roaring in here!
Christmas in the Living Room
Each year John and I decorate the tree together and it was extra special this year because he’s home from college. We decided on a theme of red, gold and white ornaments. Many of our ornaments are handmade – the orange slices, the watercolor glass ornaments, and the preserved baby’s breathe ornaments.
Mixed in you’ll see treasured ornaments from my childhood including this brass house. New this year is this watercolor of Scituate Lighthouse that’s available in our online shop.
Our Christmas tree is by Balsam Hill, it’s the Saratoga Spruce. We’ve had this tree since 2018 and it’s so realistic! They have loads available on Amazon now, and many are such amazing prices.
The faux fur tree skirt is also by Balsam Hill.
I love using baby’s breath and real votive candles to set a cozy mood. The glasses are vintage and my hubby made me this white oak table.
This room is rather long so we treat it as two spaces.
Our mantel is original to the home but we refaced it with fossilized ocean floor and also added the gas insert which is so lovely and feels like a real fire! See the fireplace makeover here.
The garland is new this year and I actually used two separate pieces. It feels like real pine.
If you’ve followed the blog for a while then you are aware of my love of old books and brass candlesticks.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our Christmas in New England Home Tour! We’re wishing you a wonderful holiday season from Scituate! We’re hoping for some snow this year. We haven’t had a white Christmas for a few years now.
Next up on the tour is Julia from Cuckoo 4 Design. I love Julia’s style and I can’t wait to see how she’s decorated!

Gosh Danielle, all I have to say is Hallmark movie!!! I just want to go on vacation to your house. The decorated truck is the cutest thing ever. And how sweet that your son decorated the tree with you. Mine was home from college too but didn’t feel like it 😉 Happy Holidays!
Aw, ha! ha! You’re so kind. Thank you. Isn’t Luke’s truck the sweetest. People can’t help but smile when he drives by. Well, if it makes you feel any better Conor didn’t help with any decor – he didn’t feel like it. Ha! Ha!
Danielle, your home always looks warm and inviting. Your kitchen and dining room are two of my favorites in blogland. I love the vintage candle holder with the blue tapers! All of it is wonderful.
That is so kind of you to say. Thank you, Jen. I’ll never forget we were together when I was trying to get that Welsh dresser for the dining room.
I love all your collections and the tree in the truck is so fun!
Thank you, Melanie xx We seem to like vintage things over here. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas! x

WOW, everything is just beautiful, it looks like it came straight out of a magazine, I adore the truck. Congrat’s on the feature in the magazine, well deserved. Wishing you a beautiful holiday season and a merry Christmas!
Thank you, Kristin. That is really so sweet of you to say. Wising you a wonderful Christmas with all your kids home. I’m so excited for the holidays this year. xx
