Clang, Clang, Clang Goes the Bell…
John & Conor at the Scituate Fire Station Open House (2011) |
at the Scituate Fire Station! Shiny, red engines sat infront of the 1st Parish Road Station, gleaming in the Autumn sun, ready and waiting for all the children wanting to explore them. My little ones, John and Conor, were so excited to return to the Scituate Fire Station again this year! It is a tradition for us each year and this year was no exception.
The firefighters and staff are wonderful in Scituate and such great role models for the kids. They always answer John’s inquisitive questions. On this visit, he wanted to to know why fire engines always arrive with ambulances.

The open house is wonderful. Kids can climb up and ‘drive’ the engines. They can explore inside the ambulance or see what it is like inside a smoke filled house.

Each year there are plastic fire helmets, balloons, cookies, informative workbooks and many, many pamphlets. They have coffee for parents and free Papa Gino’s pizza for all.

And here is Conor having a go (he was a little shy and had the boo boo lip out):
Not bad for our little guy! |
We truly are so lucky to live in Scituate and have such a wonderful Fire Department!
Fun! My husbands Father and grandfather were firefighters/fire chief. I am glad your boys had such fun!
