Climb Every Mountain: A Getaway to the White Mountains
Sometimes you just need a break…
A break from worries.
A time out from chores.
A little getaway to enjoy Nature.
A time to discover amazing places and go on adventures. Last week, we did just that and it was perfect!
We packed the car, left Poppy in the loving care of my parents, and drove up to the White Mountains in NH. We stayed at a gorgeous home in the mountains with some friends. This was the view from our bedroom window:
Isn’t it amazing how the clouds float on the mountains?
On the first day we went to the Bretton Woods region and took a scenic chair lift ride which is free. The views were spectacular.
This was taken right after we got off the chair lift:
We took a nature walk at the top and saw some wild turkeys. The boys were disappointed we didn’t see bears! The fresh air smelled of Christmas with all the fir trees. Here you can see the famous Mount Washington Hotel with the red roof:
We saw gorgeous wild flowers and ferns growing on the side of the path.
My boys also LOVE Diana’s Bath and we hiked up there with a picnic lunch.
I know it looks warm but the water was freezing up there. John was brave enough to go in the hole that was 9 feet deep and he was FREEZING afterward!
We, of course, went to Story Land and our favorite ride is the Bamboo Shoots! Such a fun one! We went on this ride several times.
I love Conor’s expression!
It is no secret that I LOVE pizza. I seriously could eat pizza every meal. I adore the Flatbread Co. up in North Conway NH. I guess it is good it isn’t right down the street because we went there twice in the six days we were there. The house salad is delicious and fresh and topped with seaweed.
We tried the eggplant special:
The sausage and mushroom:
and the Jay’s Heart:
I’m happy to tell you they were all delicious and we enjoyed every, single bite!
The last day was spent floating down the Saco River on tubes. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The sound of the crystal clear water flowing over rocks was so relaxing.
We enjoyed pizza before we headed home.
This was our first trip away together as a family since our trip to England last year. It was nice to unwind, to go on adventures and to breathe in the fresh mountain air.
We’re home now. The house looks a little different and I’m enjoying the smell of the sea again.
Did you go anywhere fun this summer? Can’t wait to hear what you’ve been up to.
It looks so peaceful and fun. Great getaway!
