Coco Corner Cabinet (Before & After)
Sometimes furniture isn’t just a piece of wood and some hardware. Often times a piece of furniture is so much more than that – it may be the turn of a leg, beautiful molding, a great crystal knob or a gorgeous patina from years of age. My favorite pieces of furniture are ones that have a story. Ones that I grew up enjoying in our homes when I was little. I still have a cabinet in the kitchen that my mom stored all my school papers. I treasure a console table that was handmade and passed onto my mom. Finally, I couldn’t give up the bedroom set that I had since I was two and is now John’s. I transformed it with the Union Flag and still need to work on his nightstand.
Anyway, when a friend told me about this corner cabinet that she wanted help with I was happy to oblige. It was the only piece of furniture she has from her childhood home and while it may not be expensive it is priceless (holding so many memories of the past).

Over several moves and the passage of time, the little corner cabinet needed some TLC.

This is awesome! I would love to have a corner cabinet. So jealous…
Very nice restoration!!
I have a bureau that was in my room when I was a toddler and a credenza from the family living room. Both pieces need a little love but I haven’t settled on what to do with them just yet.
Thanks, Ali! Your pieces sound lovely. I agree with you, that it is important to really think about what you want to do before you begin. That’s why I haven’t done the bedside table in John’s room just yet. Still trying to figure it out…
So cute! I like the blue details!
The corner cabinet reminds me of my parents kitchen, when I was a child. It just has that lovely simple quality. It looks great – I agree, the blue and brown combination really works.
Love your corner cabinet makeover! I’m in the process of doing one very similar, but white. I’m a new follower. Hope you can drop by my blog some time. x Julie
Thanks, Julie! Just stopped by your blog and love it. I’m following you back 🙂
I love the blue and brown together. I have two bookshelves from my childhood that I needed to keep more out of necessity than nostalgia but I went the DIY chalkpaint route with them and I love how much better they look! Here is one of them http://www.chickenscratchny.com/2012/05/another-diy-chalkpaint-bookshelf.html

What a great color combination! I just bought a similar piece on Craigslist yesterday from a couple who is retiring and moving to Arizona. The piece had belonged to the woman’s parents and she was sad to see it go. I told her I’d take good care of it. I didn’t mention that I was going to paint it, just in case that would freak her out!
great color combo! (i’ve always been a big fan of blues and browns) i have an old corner cupboard, painted “hunter green” back in the early 90s. thinking it’s time for a change! thanks for the inspiration.
Very pretty! Love the contrast of the two tones and how the back of the shelves is a different color! The decorations POP in there!
Thanks for linking up this week!

Absolutely love it!
Thanks so much!
So sweet and I love the COCO color. ASCP is the best. Thanks for linking it up at Doodles & Stitches!
Love, love, love ASCP. It is the best!
I have a similar cabinet only the top of cabinet is scalloped. It is an off white. It was my great aunts. I just love it. I place glass containers of my sea shell finds. My husband thinks it is piece of junk but I love it. I would love to get it appraised someday. I already know it is a treasure no matter what the price.

Kally, your corner cabinet sounds lovely. Something doesn’t have to be really expensive to be a true treasure! x
