with boughs of holly. Falalala, La, la, la, la! My lovely neighbor gave me clippings of holly berries pictured above and more which I’ve put in vases.
I guess the theme of our Christmas decor this year is holly, silvery pinecones (which John and I painted a few years back and I pull them out each year), baubles and rustic chic.
I love the red berries against our nearly white walls and our rustic snowflakes and shimmery, snowy pine cones!
The stockings have been hung by the chimney with care:
Our mantel this year
In hopes that St. Nicholas will soon be here. Last year we did our handprints on stockings from Red Envelop. I love them and love that each year the boys’ handprints will look smaller and smaller…
Look how little Conor’s handprint (smudges) were last year. He was just over 1!
Another piece I absolutely love is our driftwood Christmas tree, handmade here in Scituate and featured at the local store Joye, and our snowy owls (a gift for each boy from Nonni).
Baubles in berry baskets:
Glittering snowmen filled with winter joy (I know my kids can’t wait to see the white stuff and make some real ones!), but with 60 degree weather who knows when we’ll see it:
Our tree is trimmed with burlap garland. I LOVE it!
Mrs. Claus (also from my childhood) and a handmade sand dollar by John, age 2:
Topping off the tree we found Benny Snowflake, our elf on a shelf! He is certainly watching my two little angels carefully!
To my local readers, Scituate has some great events planned this weekend, so mark your calendars! First Friday Night in the harbor on Friday, December 2nd. Santa will be here in the harbor for the annual Santa Stroll at 10am on December 3rd and December 4th will be the Scituate Public Schools’ 2011 Coastal Holiday House Tour and Boutique. My family is so exited for this very festive weekend!
We’ve been trimming the tree, hanging greenery and humming our favorite Beach Boys’ Christmas songs all while sipping eggnog and eating far too many Christmas…
