Decorating with Collections: In the Front Hall (part 2)
I’m delighted you all are enjoying this mini series on decorating with collections. This post is a lot shorter than the first one. Part 1 was decorating with collections in the dining room.
Creating a Cozy Front Hall
As you enter our front door you come into this space.
The marble topped dresser holds all our hats, scarves and gloves. I try and keep this space clutter free but it someone puts a binder or a water bottle here.

The lamp is vintage and so is the mirror. I painted it black to tie in with the black and white floor cloth. You can see more about our entry here.
The tall clear vase is filled with dried pussy willows and these wonderful stems from Crate & Barrel. I think adding height adds drama out here!
Our sea glass collection lives in this hand thrown bowl.
You all know I LOVE Halloween so I just had to put a skull out for the upcoming holiday.

I have the same chest that you do – it is missing the marble. I keep my Christmas dishes in the drawers and decorate the top. We inherited from my in-laws.
Hi!!! If you go to salvage yards you can find marble tops. Maybe not on the first try…but you will.
Good luck….of course if that is what you want to do.
Josette is right, you could look at salvage yards. Or you could try a quarry – they may have some off cuts. I think you’re best bet would be a salvage yard or a place that carries old things. I’m not sure where you are located but there are several in the Boston area. Another option is to post a wanted listing on Facebook marketplace.
Ahhh…. Oh! how I love a good entry way into a home. All the homes i’ve lived in have always had one. I think newer builders think of it as a waste of space. I love to seasonally decorate mine too….that is one of the big pluses to having one! I like what you did, it doesn’t need to be overdone. xx
I do love our entry. I fell in love with our home the minute I walked through the doors!
