Decorating with Houseplants
Plants have a way of lifting one’s spirits and making a home feel cozy. Learn how to bring beautiful plants into your space.
I think by now you all know how much I love flowers and plants. We’ve always had plants in our home but over the last 6 months (with everything that’s going on in the world) I’ve found myself adding more and more plants.
A few weeks ago I received an email from Teleflora to see if I’d be interested in sharing more about them with my readers. I had a chat with them over the phone and told them just how happy plants have made me over the last few months.

Beautiful Arrangements Straight to Your Door
Did you know that Teleflora offers flowers and plants with delivery around world. I’ve ordered flowers from them before but didn’t realize that they offered beautiful, lush houseplants, too.
This is the arrangement that arrived on my doorstep:
It arrived with a pretty bow, a sweet card, and care instructions for the plants.
The nice thing about Teleflora is they offer contactless delivery and also support local florists in your area, which keeps local businesses going!
I thought I’d take some photos of these indoor houseplants out by the pool to show you the scale.
The arrangement had 9 plants in all, and each one of them thriving.
I brought them inside to our entry to show you what it looks like in there:
The greenery looked great in our entry but I’ve had problems out here keeping plants alive. It doesn’t get enough light for them. I had the front door open for these shots.
It’s Okay to Transplant Plants into Other Vessels
Look how big this arrangement is and it was so heavy!
I decided all these green plants would look gorgeous in our dining room! Unfortunately, the scale and height were too big for our table. So I decided to transplant the plants into different containers.
Tips for Transplanting Houseplants
- Have an assortment of vessels ready and offer the plants up to several.
- Make sure vessels are deep enough for the roots.
- Be careful not to cut any of the roots when transplanting.
- Have extra soil available.
- Add plant food to newly transplanted plants.
- Water and place in location suitable to your plant.
I decided to use the giant clam shell planter for the majority of the plants and two smaller planters for the taller plants.
I added the preserved moss that was in the planter to help retain moisture.
A Cozy Plant Filled Dining Room
Our dining room feels so cozy and welcoming.
The trailing pothos looks so romantic dripping out of the clamshell.
While some of the other plants offer height and drama.
The mix of colors and textures looks so pretty.
The other plants are on our Welsh dresser:
I love mixing crystal and vintage ironstone with plants.
I also love how this pot actually has real moss growing on it.

A huge thank you to Teleflora for sending me such beautiful plants!
With fall coming, the plants are coming indoors. Thanks for the beautiful ideas for decorating with plants.
I’m so glad you enjoyed these ideas, Judy. Plants just make a home feel so cozy. xx
Really appreciate the great pictures and advice. We’re trying to give our home a makeover and will look to order the same bouquet from teleflora. Thank you!
I’m so glad this was helpful, Susan. They have lots of beautiful plants and flowers. Good luck with your home makeover! xx
Hi Danielle,
Come on….you’re teasing us!!!…Show us those rooms you switched around!!! I always kinda thought you and Luke would take the bigger room and give the kids their own. My boys have a four year age gap and needed their own rooms at the pre-teen and teen years. We did a lot of switching!!! I enjoy seeing what you are up to because it reminds me of growing my two boys in my former 1906 bungalow home.
The plants are very healthy looking and give a home “life”.
Oh, Josette, I’m dying to share the room swap with you guys but none of them are 100% done. I thought I was very close with Conor’s room but we’re going to repaint the walls now. Hopefully next week. I’m very close with our shared office, but it will be some time before John’s room is ready AND I’m trying to talk Luke into a gorgeous bed for our room 😉 Fingers crossed. We are all happy with the switch though and Conor and John LOVE having their own room. I promise soon I’ll be able to share. The plants… Read more »
