Decorating with Nature
Want to know the best thing about decorating with nature?
It’s cheap!
I’m not saying I’m a cheapskate but you know I have few other things I’d like to spend money on….
A sectional for the living room…
More paint…
More furniture…
Orientals….
Antiques…
Light fixtures….
Okay you get it the list goes on and on. There are lots of things I want for this house. We’re saving up our pennies. But really I wanted to talk to you about decorating with nature because, well, it is just so beautiful.
Golden acorns, fire-y red leaves, gorgeous purples of hydrangeas and mellow colors of sea grasses. I hope you are all getting a chance to get out there an inhale all this beauty. Even walking John to school I notice the leaves falling.
They float so graceful down to the ground; like little bits of sunshine shimmery as they float to road and sidewalks.
I thought I would share how I’m filling up our home with nature. It is easy and it is affordable and it is so beautiful.
On our steps are real pumpkins. I finally found them. Isn’t this pale orange one lovely? I think it would make Cinderella blush.
This is the view that greets you as you walk through the front door. An antique commode and converted oil lamp with branches from our backyard.
You may remember this decoupaged book page pumpkin from last year.
Feathers and hydrangeas are strewn on the mantel.
While a bowl of apples from our day of picking are on the coffee table in the living room.
The only problem with this decoration is every couple of hours it get smaller and smaller as I have a couple of boys who love apples.
Nature continues to be on display in the dining room with more hydrangeas on my sweet Simone armoire:
Well, that is how autumn is looking in our home. How are you decorating in your’s?
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and get to spend some time in nature. If you’re local don’t forget about First Friday Night in the Harbor tonight and Fall for Scituate in North Scituate on Saturday. Hope to see some of you at both!
