Decorating with Vintage Finds
Antiques and vintage finds add warmth and charm to a home. Today we’re decorating with vintage finds!
Using vintage and antique finds is one of my favorite things! I love going out “on the hunt” and it’s such a thrill when I find some treasures to bring home.
The other day I went out and this is what I brought home!
I’m so excited to share all these finds with you.
Latest Vintage Haul!
My latest vintage haul includes:
- two vintage cameras
- a linen table runner (this actually isn’t vintage but has a vintage look)
- Ironstone plates
- Ironstone bowl
- Vintage glasses rimmed in gold
- a cabinet from 1880!
The cabinet was from my friend Colin who owns Bent Nail Farm Antiques in Marshfield. He does barn sales every so often. I got the cabinet for our bedroom but don’t have that styled just yet.
The other finds were all from B.Home Fine Consignment in Duxbury.
Sometimes you just have a super lucky day, but I think the key is to
- Keep an open mind when you’re on the hunt.
- think like a stylist, just because they’re glasses doesn’t mean you need to use them as glasses.
- Select collections or things in the same color family.
- All finds look better in a collection (a collection of ironstone, old photos, bottles) all make more of a statement when there are more.
- For styling odd numbers look better.
Decorating with Vintage Cameras and books
I LOVE vintage cameras. There’s just something so sentimental about them. They’re masculine, but retro and so fun.
Here you can see them styled with books in our front hall:
Super antique Ralph Lauren vibe…
Okay. Now check this out. This was John’s newly painted dresser I just shared during the week with you.
Same cameras with a totally different feel. The geometric wallpaper and white makes the camera and black books pop and feel fresh.
I highly recommend picking up a vintage camera or two. We currently have 3. They’re great on shelves, on desks, and bureaus.
Decorating with vintage glasses
There was something about these glasses I just couldn’t resist. I love the pressed detailing and the pretty gold edging. I love that it’s slightly worn.
You can certainly use them as glasses and they’d look gorgeous, but isn’t it fun to think of other uses for functional things?
Add candles and they glow:
Pretty on an antique welsh dresser:
BUT equally pretty with the linen runner spread across the table in a simple vignette:
I used little glass candle holders inside. I think I got them from Michael’s years ago.
So pretty and romantic, right? Let’s blow the candles out and try something else.
Incidentally, blown out candles always reminds me of birthdays, which I love. Do you guys feel the same?
Let’s try these pretty glasses as vintage bud vases.
These are sweet wax flowers I got from Trader Joe’s. Two weeks later and they’re still going strong. I scattered the candles across the table to add a bit more romance:
Equally pretty. Which way did you like the best?!?
Decorating with Ironstone
I LOVE ironstone. The creamy white pottery makes me so happy. I have it displayed on our Welsh Dresser but also use it as functional servingware. It also pops up in the kitchen and on other surfases in our home.
The bowl found a home on this marble topped cabinet I shared last week.
I left it empty for now, but come summer I’ll fill it with shells and coral 😊
Those little ironstone trays look pretty stacked on a shelf in the dining room:
But I bought them because I knew they’d look great with all our ironstone AND that we could use them for nuts, hummus, mezze platters, and more!
While I was out I also got a delicious onion foccaccia from My Little Bakery (around the corner from B. Home Fine Consignments). Seemed perfect to try our our little ironstone trays for lunchtime.
Conor made the white bean dip from scratch. Maybe I’ll share the recipe here on the blog if you guys are interested. Or maybe a full mezze spread. Let me know.
Well, I know this was kind of a long rambling post, but I get so excited about sharing my love of vintage and home decor with you guys. I’m hoping this gives you some ideas for seeking treasures and making your home feel cozy this winter.

Love this post, Danielle! The vintage cameras are cool and I love the glasses you found! Makes me want to go hunting for vintage treasures.
I love “old” things too….something found that draws you in. This is a treasure hunt I truly enjoy because you never know what you’ll find…but, you know it has to come home with you. Love your vignettes!
SO many beautiful finds! I LOVE the way the candles shine through those lovely little glasses, I bet they make the prettiest shadows as they flicker!
Danielle, you had me at vintage shopping! Terrific finds, all. Those are all things I gravitate toward when buying for our booths and, of course, for home. I completely share your thrill. Yes, share the recipe for the bean dip! Happy weekend.
One of my favorite things to do is go antiquing! It’s a step bak in time that is always exciting. You never know what you’ll find but it’s the ‘hunt’ that I love so thanks for sharing your treasures!
Such great finds and I love how you’ve showcased them in different vignettes. Those cameras are especially fun
Love those little glasses! Your chandelier looks nice over the table…I have that exact one my sister in law gave me over 20 years ago when they remodeled. It looks pretty in the master bedroom which is old fashioned country French. Those little ironstone trays are perfect for snacks.
Don’t know why I’ve never tried putting candles in my vintage glasses? Thanks!
I love your haul! I’ve been collecting antiques and vintage pieces for 50+ years. I have a large collection of ironstone, among other things!
I spend time in thrift shops just looking for that perfect piece of vintage china or glass to add to my collection.
Thanks for sharing.
PS – I’d love the recipes.
I have so many vintage pieces and would love to see them go to people that appreciate them. I’m just not sure who deals with helping me sell them.
Drooling over the ironstone but then again LOVE the glasses. I liked the candles best but as vases is almost as good. YES PLEASE white bean dip recipe.
Super fun post! I love.every.single.thing.you got. Great shopping day. I love how you used the gold trimmed glasses in different ways. I love white beans so I would love the recipe!
I Love to find unique finds while thrifting too. I don’t always need things but I always seem to find something to bring home. Those cut glass glasses are extraordinary and just beautiful with the candle in them. But I think my favorite find of yours was the small rectangle ironstone dishes. I can think of so many ways to use them.
I LOVED every inch of this post, in case you didn’t know, I’m a wee bit obsessed with vintage! 😉 Gorgeous photography and perfect backdrop for your amazing vintage finds. xo
This post warms my vintage loving heart! Love how you showed different ways to use your treasures! I had quite a collection of vintage cameras, but just gave them to my son who has taken up film photography. I thought he would enjoy the collection!
