DIY Christmas Wrapping Paper
I partnered with Royal Design Studio on this post.
Warm hot cocoa, candy canes and the Beach Boys Christmas album instantly put me in the Christmas spirit.
“It’s the little Saint Nick, the Little Saint Nick. It’s the little Saint Nick” I’m listening to the album as I type this.
The first thing we would do on Christmas day, upon arriving to my grandmother’s house, was put this record on.
The other thing I LOVE doing around the holidays is making things for family and friends. This year I thought it would be fun to create some DIY Christmas Wrapping Paper. I used some fun stencils from Royal Design and shimmery stencil creme and things I already had around my house to decorate the presents:
Do you love this look? Here’s how you can create it for your own family and friends.
DIY Christmas Wrapping Paper
Materials:
- Craft Paper (I use this to put under my furniture when painting but it makes great paper too)
- Pine Forest Christmas Stencil
- Falling Star Chrismas Stencil
- Holiday Garland Christmas Stencil
- Stencil Creme in Silver and Antique Gold
- Stenciling Brushes
- Scissors
- Card Stock for Gift Tags
- Tag Punchers
- Hole Punch
- Twine, Ornaments, feathers to embellish presents.
- Paper Towels
Method
Stretch out craft paper on surface.
Hold stencil in place with your hand and dip your stencil brush in the creme and blot on a paper towel to remove access paint from brush (this prevents the creme bleeding under the stencil).
Stencil area in a cirucular motion with the brush. Carefully lift the stencil and move to the next area.
It is also fun to mix two metallics together like on the Christmas Tree Stencil.
Some of the stencils I did in a haphazard pattern while others like the holly I just did one on the package.
Once the paper is dry you can wrap your gifts.
To create the gift tags I did the same as above on craft paper. Once dry, I used a tag puncher to created gift tags and created a hole with a hole punch to attach them to the presents.
The presents are decorated with twine, jingle bells, ornaments, feathers and rosemary. I love decorating with elements from nature. The feathers add a soft whimsical touch while the rosemary (from our deck) adds lovely color and fragrance.
Oh, and these scissors by Nate Berkus are now one of my favorite things!
I still have all my Christmas decorating and lots of crafting and baking to do but wrapping up these packages and sharing this easy craft has definitely put me in the Christmas spirit. Do you think you’ll try this one at home?

Hi Danielle ~
So pretty – Love the silver stencils & love how you used the same for the tags.
I wrapped my gifts last year with brown paper and thought it needed something else, so I used stencils also.
Have a wonderful day.

i love these packages, danielle! the feather is my favorite- i would be afraid to open and destroy them!
I love the look of homemade wrapping paper, but in years past, I hated the time it took. With less items to wrap now, maybe I’ll give this a shot. I really love that silver and gold, stunning!
Thank you Danielle for this easy, super elegant project with our Christmas stencils! Love all the little trims and special details you brought in!
Can’t go past lovely handmade wrapping paper Danielle and this is absolutely gorgeous. I just featured yours on my Sunday Features post 🙂
