DIY: Painted Pumpkins
Painted Pumpkins |
Well, you all know how much I love painting furniture and frames. Why would I stop at pumpkins? The kids were quite excited about the opportunity to transform the orange pumpkins we found at the super market.
Our first stop was one of my favorite DIY stores – Hingham Lumber in Cohasset to catch up with my friends in the paint department. I picked up some gold spray paint for the smaller pumpkins.

Conor giggled all the way through spraying the pumpkins. Once they were dry we brought them around to the front and put them in our ‘summer planters’ the pink flowers have now died off leaving just potato vines.
Gold pumpkins |
The gold pumpkins were looking a bit lonely and Conor wanted to paint some more. So we got our Annie Sloan Chalk Paint out – I had a mixture of Duck Egg and Provence from the china cabinet in our kitchen and we thought that would make a nice un-orange color.

I can only imagine what was going through Poppy’s head as she watched us (probably “crazy humans”):

We thought it would be fun to put our house number on the pumpkin so I printed off a spooky font with our house number and put some carbon paper behind and traced the numbers with a pen.
What a fun and unique touch for your porch, Danielle. The freeze last week did a number on my potatoe vines! 🙁
What a fun family craft project! And I totally love the house number pumpkin – just might have to steal that idea!
