Down the Garden Path

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was greater than the risk it took to bloom.”
– Anais Nin
In our new garden, I’m surrounded by a world of possibilities.  I feel like there is so much growing.  So many risks being taken by these living creatures around us.  The large bumble bees, the beautiful buds and the baby spiders (my little guys love so much) are all taking risks.
Slowly, we’re making discoveries…
Finding hidden rose bushes and peonies so tightly bound ready to explode with color and that beautiful sweet aroma.  One of my favorites for sure!
Butterflies and dragonflies love our garden.  I’ve never seen such large ones before!  I can’t imagine how many there will be when the butterfly bush is in bloom.  John is so excited about all this wild life!
Some friends have said they wanted to see a bit of the garden.  Here it is with some of our touches.
My driftwood Minot sign hangs lazily on the green painted door.  Yes, you have arrived at our beach home!
Soft flowers dance in the breeze here
while a rusty blue fish welcomes you at the back door.
If you listen, can you hear them?  Those are the church bells chiming.  If you take a deep breath; yup, that is the salt air you breathe in.

Hanging by the back door is a new light we bought at Lowe’s.  Doesn’t it look vintage?

Also hanging close by is  a kind reminder to bring a beer when you stop by:

For Luke (not me).  You know I’m more a cocktail or prosecco kind of gal!
You may also see our baby girl, Poppy, frolicking about the yard with the kids or trying to catch that elusive squirrel.
Or watching the neighborhood.  Sorry if she barks while you pass by.  She now thinks she is guard dog:

I’m hoping to share Conor’s dresser with you next week and maybe some planting projects!  Any advice on window boxes, particularly for shade, would be much appreciated.

Oh, my friend Nancy at the Sea Rose Cottage wants a tour of the basement, the creative space of the home.  Do you guys want to see it?  It isn’t a finished basement but has some fun nooks and crannies.  I  will happily extend the tour to the lower level if you all want to see.  Happy Friday!

You sound excited even when you’re writing! LOL what a wonderful summer you’re going to have puttering around fixing up your new place! I love the light you found…perfect for your home! We are about 4 miles from the ocean but if the breeze is right, I can smell the salt air….nothing is better than that scent!

Yes, basement pics please !
It must be great to see flowers blooming, that you hadn’t even planted. I love ‘blue’ flowers, so am envious of your iris’s, and it looks like there is something pretty in front of your ‘beach hut’ !
Love all your personal touches and especially the new ‘old’ lamp !

HI Danielle! Thank you so much for showing your beautiful yard! Isn’t it fun when you aren’t sure what’s out there and you discover new things daily? I’m sure that the butterflies will be coming in droves once your bush blooms! Sure! I’d love to see the basement! I’m into seeing everything – always so inspirational! Love your new light fixture! It has such an old nautical appeal! Thank you again for sharing! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Leena
